OT - in fact, off the planet!
Folks
I saw this last year at the Guggenheim; to be honest I only went to see the building. This was the exhibition I was confronted by. There is a tenuous link to bikes in Chapter 4 but it is tenuous, believe me! After a year my wife and I still fall down helpless with laughter. This is definitely Dr Curve's field of expertise and I need to know if it is Matthew Barney or myself who is mad. For all it's insanity, it is very well put together! I saw people leaving the museum in varying states of distress/bewilderment/hilarity. http://www.cremaster.net/#finalState

a friend of mine has a copy of cremaster 4 and 5 and while the movies were visiting chicago my girl and i went to see 1 and 2. well, cremaster 3 is supposed to be the best and that's the one we missed. i also missed my opportunity to see the show at the guggenheim in NYC which my girl would not stop praising. pretty cool stuff. last i heard he's seeing bjork and a friend of mine who is in art school had one of her professors describe the couple as pixie and goatboy. anyway, i do enjoy his sculptures and the stills from the films. the films themselves are sometimes hard to get through but they certainly are an experience. wish i could have seen the exhibit though.
happy easter.

I watched the "trailer" and I think he is deeply disturbed. But it was interesting. Why did it remind me of that horror movie with the levitating balls that fly through the air and stick in your head? What was that one?

Hey, art students will love it, so will those who never left Art School...I know I didn't, for the longest time....that said, ahem, whoever Blarney is, it's pretty evident that he loves Dali'/Bunuel's film "Un Chien Andalou " and he's one of the Darlings of New York for the next 15 minutes...so much cash spent for so much masturbation...tsk tsk...

This is an excerpt from the Synopsis of Cremaster 4. If someone can explain what on earth is going on they are a better person than me (and I majored in English). It is the most brilliantly absurd writing ever.
Neil "Cremaster 4 begins and ends in a building on the end of Queen's Pier. As the film starts, the Candidate is being prepared by the fairies for a journey. The motorcycle race begins, and each team speeds off in opposite directions. The camera cuts back and forth between the race and the Candidate, who is tap-dancing his way through a slowly eroding floor. As the bikes vie for the title, the camera pulls in for close-up shots of the riders' torsos. Gelatinous gonadal forms - undifferentiated internal sex organs - emerge from slots in their uniforms in a migratory quest for directionality. In the case of the Ascending Hack, the organs move upward toward a second set of slots in the leather. With the Descending Hack, they ooze downward. Back at the pier, the Candidate plunges through the floor into the sea and heads toward the island. At the moment of his fall - a transition from the utopian realm of pregenital oneness to that of bifurcation - the Ascending Hack collides with a stone embankment and the Descending Hack pulls off the course for a pit stop, where the fairies service its motorcycle."

As a semi-burgeois hillbilly twanger I can only respond in a colloquial manner I am accustomed to:
Dude, what the f*ck? (although the score was really cool)

Sp, er spilling, er, uh..
Sorry Dan, my mistake, i wasn't an English major.
That said. This art twaddlefest also reminds me of David Lynches "Eraserhead" or better yet "Dune"... What the F##K indeed.

I read all 5 synopsis (yeah I know, I should be doing other things)
but the trailer is scenes from all 5 movies. After reading all that crazy jibberish it makes very little sence (obviously) but gives you a better idea of what all the charcters are and what the wierd scenes mean, even tells who plays the parts. Dave Lombardo from SLAYER is in it (for those who like that craziness! )John
