On the topic of gas tanks. I was suprised to find that the Ducati MH900E only has a 2.2 gallon tank! Range is said to be 90 miles. I want one so bad, but couldnt see 90 mile tanks being very fun..
Now back to your normal BMW content.

You want

Aux Fuel Tank

More than enough info there. In simple terms, no aftermarket unit available to increase tank size, as there is for the R11xxGS.

Here you go. 1.15 gallons for non ABS R11S. $275 plus $10 shipping. If you vent the filler neck on the main tank and add this tank you should end up with about 6.2 to 6.3 gallons.

If you have a good sheet metal fabricater in your area your stock tank can be enlarged to approximately 7 gallons. There have been several people to post info in the last 4 years. I have enlarged my non ABS tank to 5.9 gallons with a 3 inch ram air pipe run through it. Eddy

Where in the heck are you going to find room for 2.2 additional gallons on an ABS bike? I'd love to the see the posts with that info.

EMCCARTY,

Very true but as I recall there are only a few fabricator, that work with gas tanks, that are willing to do it and the cost was in the $400 to $500 range. Don't forget the down time. I didn't want to spend that kind of money and possible ruin a perfectly good tank. So I came up with this solution. Less expensive and only an afternoon to install. With my 1.35 gallon tank (not for production) and the modified filler neck, on the main tank, I was able to squeeze about 6.8 gallons into the 2 tanks. So I figured with the 1.15 gallon aux tank you should be able to cram about 6.5 to 6.6 gallons into both tanks. If you have the money and can find a competent fabricator to do it then go for it. I think it would be a better solution if cost and down time were not a factor.
