Be careful where you buy fuel these days....

Just a few days ago my bank called to ask if i'd gone on a home-improvement shopping spree in Florida (i live in SoCal).

apparently someone got my credit card number and was buying all sorts of things thousands of miles away, to the tune of about two grand.

i asked if they had any idea how someone got my card number.
"Do you buy gas at Arco stations in california? We've discoverd that some of their customer data has been compromised, especially in California." she says.

I'm a union 76 guy normally, but yep, a few weeks ago during a ride with the SLO boys in central CA, we went to an Arco station. it's right there on my statment.

So.....just in case you have a choice......I'd select somebody else's petro-fix when feeding your scoot. Atlantic Richfield Co. appears to have some serious leakage at the pump!

ps: the credit card folks are somewhat on top of it. when the woman looked at my account, and saw all the small fuel purchases i make she says "Oh, i see you ride a motorcycle."
