Angry staintune dimples

In this wonderfully blurry picture you can see a dimple at three o'clock on the right can - I've got a symetrical dent at nine o'clock on the other can which prompted me to wonder whether or not anybody else has the same 'dimples' Or if I got screwed by a lazy rubber mallet toting tech-------

photographing chrome dents proved tough- this was the best of ten different pictures...

i've seen this firsthand.... perfectly matching dimples on each side... by the way, it's 9:00 on the other one I believe.

And repoe you will be glad to know that they still don't have those dimples... even after being removed and reinstalled Those pipes are way to costly to be pounding on.

thats good to hear. trying to imagine how far you had that thing apart in the reconstruction process.

by the way buck, no pounding is needed. a little wd40 or something on the rubber bushing sor the metal post and it would have slid on nicely.

i recall that install was a bit teadious when i did it on the last S only becuase i had some miles on it and weather, etc. when i installed the laser system, the bike had 25 miles on it and everything came off and went on easily.

Uhh, yeah that ain't right, I say! Overanxious installer I do believe. There are dimples between the cans (not visible when installed) that allow room for the license plate light wiring but none on the back like that!!!

Dish soap works great to lube up the rubber bushings for install.

Repoe,
I had to remove the RH side muffler to install the Saddlebag brackets, one bolt would not fit with the exhaust in place.

angry buck.
Had exhuast installed when I was less intelligent and nervous about doing something wrong. Felt funny when the tech said it was tough installing.
Happened three years ago, probably nothing I can do about it now...
-the tech works at maxbmw NH now as far as I know-

The right saddlebag bracket was a bee-atch to install with the staintunes on, but I managed. You have a fair bit of leeway with how the staintune fits if you push and pull and prod and poke. As much as 1" or so in relation to the saddlebag bolt. Just enough room to slide the nut in actually. It's fiddly, but doable.

yeah i never had to try to install the bag mounts with the tunes...some to think of it, the mounts on the new stead were already there when i installed the laser system, so i guess i didnt think about the challange of fitting stuff up in there.

oh as for a remark from a mechanic that states "it was tough" for ANYTHING done at a shop, i would promptly go to the service manager and tell him to stuff the bill or cut the $$ by 50%...chances are something wasnt done right.

now i would feel different about a car service, but only on an older car with more corrosion that could make removel of a part difficult. but only then.
