				Let's be careful kids!

warning: severe road rash ahead (I'm still wondering how much compassion I should commit to this idiot. 120 mph street racing.) http://community.webshots.com/album/166215570mnoMZg/0 Here's the "survivor" bike. I'm assuming the pilot is the guy wearing SHOES! http://community.webshots.com/photo/166215570/166532307ZfKtpV Both were apparently arrested.

				Hmmm...

Disturbing to see. Do youknow you'll get road rash, even if your wearing a leather racing suit? I assume this poor fool was wearing nada. Kinda like the guy we saw go by on the crest yesterday...NO shirt, sneakers, jeans...on a BCR! My buddy made some comment about not knowing the Squid Crowd had a Beemer following...funny dat. Oh, and by the way, the guy had a requisite teeny chicky pearch atop the pillion, in nothing but gold lame' stringy vest looking thingie... Uh oh, wonder if this person is a member...?

When I see that kind of lunacy I usually try to laugh in the (idiot) rider's face; then ask the passenger if I can take pictures of the skin grafts; I've seen and talked to a doctor and his wife(!!!!) wearing the same getup (none) on a hardley type; I told him 'Glad I never went to your practice, cause if you're riding a motorcycle outfitted like that, I don't trust your judgement enough to let you touch me, much less operate on me'

Man, that "heal thyself" is gonna suck when/if he encounters pavement. At least he can write himself scripts.

Luckily he got rid of that ugly tattoo on the left shoulder . Poor guy, he must be hurting like hell. Wearing shorts and t-shirt I guess? I'm wondering why this was posted under 'entertainment'. I don't see anything funny... Always wear leathers whatever the temperature!

Smooth asphalt is bad enough! Like a belt sander. But I was riding yesterday and the machine that munches the top inch or so had passed over about 10 miles of I-70. It leaves what would be considered a layer of "Extra rough" grit sanding belt. I couldn't imagine - you would just be whittled away to nothing...

Hey, I work near there. Looks like one less Hayabusa in the world to worry about the K1200S. Lately, I notice a lot of carnage and death stories on this site. -Jeff

The country has been going to pieces since the first native american uttered those immortal words "since the white man came, this country is going to pieces." I know, I found that very petroglyph.

Roger is busy but I heard him say that your ban has been in place long enough and you should feel free to indulge. At least I think that was Roger I heard. Maybe it was a dream.

ckcarr: I was told that the "native Americans" on Manhattan Is. who traded the land for the infamous $24 of beads and trinkets weren't even from the tribe that "owned" the land! They were just fishing. The first land deal was a swindle from both sides! Fancy that. Now with all the krapola going on with homeland security I will ask it again: Tell me why NYC is such a neat place to live.

Well, NYC has porn, and death and carnage, all the time. Alright, let me edit that -- I'm joking. It's really a great city, though. I grew up 30 miles west of there, and used to hate it as a kid. Now, as an "adult," something must have disintegrated in my brain, b/c I love visiting the place, and even thought about moving there recently. Best food, most fun, craziest people... what's not to like?

lemec Good point. It also is NOT motorcycle friendly (well beyond the average US burb). Lowest car ownership per capita in the US, which is almost un-American.

lemec A friend of mine rode his K12RS there a few years ago. He said after seeing all the pot holes and krappy streets he understood why the only BMWs he say in NYC were GS's. He was not impressed, and said he couldn't wait to get out of town. Forum members tell how they have to triple lock their scoots just so they will be where they left them 10 minutes earlier... That's not civilization, that's anarchy. And then there's the city sales tax which is a "price of membership". Phooey. I'll take the wide open spaces of Wyoming before I'll take Manhattan.

For the record, I've lived in NYC for the past 6 1/2 years, and rode a bike in the city for 5 1/2 of them. A motorcycle is the best way to get around town - hands down. I never chained my S. Parked it in front of my apt. in Brooklyn and never had any problems. I think for the most part the bike theives are looking for Harleys, but more so looking for Jap. sport bikes to part out. What are they going to do w/a Beemer? Not a big market for stolen parts. My S was a killer bike for the city though it didn't like to sit in traffic too much. There are a ton of riders around town, and I think riding here is MUCH safer than riding say on I-95/495 on the capital beltway around DC - cabbies are easier to deal with than the random woman driving down the road in her 3 seiries putting on lipstick while talking on the phone.
