Badass as ever

My 2002 S Boxercup Prep is just about to turn 42,000 miles courtesy of moi, and I dare say she's looking as badass as ever.

I second that. Positively Backstreet boys!

No, really that shot is superb. I never get tired of the way this bike looks.
Nice to bring it out in cool shots like that.

Oh ya...that's nice too, but not as nice as the lighting on the last shot which has no tailbag in it at all.

I'm up for the ride.

As for my camera, I'm now shooting with a Canon EOS-10D digital SLR with some nice L lenses. I got it a month ago and it's SCHWEET, especially the new lenses. Real glass and a real camera are ultra nice to shoot with, especially after years of 'prosumer' digital cameras like the sony 717. I can never go back now.

My 'S turned 30K this weekend. I took this photo, which I thought came out particularly well, on that monumental day. After almost 5 years of ownership, I can't think of another bike I'd buy to replace her.

Don't get me wrong. I used the 707, and the 505v before it for work over the past 4 years. Great cameras for what they are and when you get used to some of the consumer level deficiencies you can make them do a lot. But a real digital SLR like the canon is light years ahead in terms of ease of use and image quality. The image quality difference between the canon 10D and any of the sonys and consumer digitals is BIG. For example, my 10D at ISO800 is making about the same amount of noise as my old 707, or the new 828 for that matter, at ISO100. What does this mean? Well at ISO100-400 on my 10D the pics look almost unbearably smooth and true, whereas the sony looks 'digital camera noisy' and overexposed/contrasty. But for the money you can get a discontinued 717, they are a steal.

BTW the 707/717 makes cleaner, less noisy shots than the 828. The 828 is a good camera otherwise, but the quality is lacking as they crammed 50% more pixels in the same CCD sensor area making for more noise. For the price difference, I'd still get a 717.

i was very pleased with the results from laguna. considering i had the size down and had to get used to it. high speed shots are not its best traits, but i managed alright...did you see some of the pics on the thread?

No I missed the shots somehow. Yeah it's a bit hard tracking fast objects as the LCD screen lags just a touch and then the shutter lags more. I got pretty good at it as I took lots of race car shots with my 707 for work. You just have to have faith and track the car before, during, and after the shot to make sure you get it.

Check out the following for some 707 shots. Some long exposure somewhat artistic moving shots with flash imprints, a long exposure shot and some stills.

http://www.hrsprings.com/site/projects/eurovan/body.html

Great all around camera in terms of focal length range and quality. Especially good for web use and smaller print use ( not poster size ). The reds like to clip, but otherwise the color is good.
