Actually, it's so boring that it doesn't make for good literature. But to answer your question:
The Hunt For Red October by Tom Clancy has only 2 technical errors that I could find (no, I won't tell you what they are). Blind Man's Bluff just out about 2 years ago gives a good accounting of the espionage activities of the sub fleet. There is a very old article in the National Geographic about the USS Triton making a circumnavigation of the globe, following Magellan's course, done totally submerged. Good photos, good write up. Probably the best snapshot you can find. They did that in the 1960's sometime, sorry I can't zero it in any closer than that. Local Library might be able to find it, or Nat. Geographic website.
