Rev limiter

Where is the rev limiter , in the big module? Anyone ever mess with theirs or get it disconected?

Just out of curiousity, why do you want to get rid of the limiter?

Macman: I am sure its part of the EPROM like on almost all computer controlled vehicles.
It would take a new chip to get rid of or raise the limiter. BBPower I think has a chip that you can disable the limiter all together, most others raise it a few hundred RPM.

What Anton said.

The motor is pretty much done breathing at about 7500 RPM.

I'll betcha they blow up pretty spectacularly, though, without a rev limiter! somewhere about 9500RPM, you might want to invest in a flak jacket for your nads....or your legs

the rev limiter is part of the software. there's a number (usually two, an upper and lower) in the code that sets the limiting rpm value. when that rpm is reached the rev limiting procedure - cutting fuel, spark or a combination of both - is activated. it's about 8,500 on an s engine.

I have a power commander and modified the exhaust. Mine is pulling hard at top rpm and wants to go a little further , maybe 800 rpm. Anyway, I've ridden and raced mototrcycles for 35 years and only blew one bike up from over reving ( poor choice an a downshift during an endurance race) .
None of of the other 100 bikes I have owned besides BMW have the rev limiter and I am not used to it, especially when I want to keep the front wheel up just a tad bit longer so the wheel dosen't slam down unexpectantly.
( I kinda have my mind on other things besides watching the tach that closely)
All in good fun
