Changing front turn-signals
I know how to remove the black plastic indicator pods from the fairing panels, but how do I remove the actual indicators from the pods?
|
Are you talking about the bulbs, or do you want to remove the amber lenses?
If the bulbs, just follow the wires in, and when you get to the end, twist 90 degrees and the lamps will pop out. Hope this helps... |
I'm replacing my beat up pods with new ones and I need to remove the indicator assembly (amber lenses).
|
The lenses clip into the pods if that's what you're after. You have to press the clips in to get them to release. It's easy if you have the pods off, harder if the pods are still attached to the fairing, and virtually impossible with the fairing on the bike.

2 tiny flat-blade screwdrivers; GENTLY pry the housing out of the body panel enough to see the clips, using the first screwdriver; then press each clip inward in turn with the other one; I have mine in and out all the time with this method and have yet to mar either the housing or the body panel; BE GENTLE, maybe even tape the blade with one wrap of electircal tape, but it can be done...

got it, the fixed tabs opposite the clips was throwing me; you just have to "force" it in a way the seems lik something might break.

I have a set of amber front and rear. Cheap, if you mess yours up. |
Appreciate it, but it was pretty easy-peasy. Bike looks a lot better now that one of the pods isn't cracked and stained white from brake fluid (the reservoir cracked open in the original accident and this was one of those I'll get around to it things).
You can see what it looked like originally. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1104894849.jpg |
