Re: riding in fog 'n what to do - the Respo mask, etc. ...
. On an alpine ski trip decades ago, someone gave me "The Masque." A non-fleeced version of the Seirus Neofleece Masque (Item 661646) shown on REI's site for $13. . http://www.rei.com/category/4501527.htm Mine (The Masque) is this one - works well on moto, too:... . http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/neoprenemask.jpg . If you buy from REI using a VISA credit card, enter coupon code VARE4 for 15% discount - that coupon expires Feb 01/05. Good luck. . I like the "...athletic elastic headband wrapped around my left wrist and index finger..." trick. Good one. . |
repoe, Not Darells, the short Irish looking mechanic, Mark I think? Darell has an 01 in Black (Light, without carbon though).

Matt, you can also go to the local ski shop and get a no-fog cloth for goggles. Wipe the inside of the shield with it and give it a try. Very cheap and I've found it has worked well in the past. Come on...got to be some other skiers here...

Fogcity insert is not the same material as the insert in the nolan helmet dsl.You have an insert made by Pinlock.Pinlocks are great and are now available for almost every helmet. They even come standard now on some shoei's and arai's over here.Pinlock is the best sysyem period and if you ride in misty conditions or rain it will keep inside of visor clean. So all you commuters that face fog GET a pinlock they rule period.

BTW, I'm a long time skier and the Masque keeps your face real warm, but does nothing to prevent fogging (Respro is about the same but directs your breath completely down and out the bottom of your helmet). The Scott goggle fog wipes or anything else I've tried from a ski shop are only about as good as zooke, cat crap, diving mask stuff.... marginal at best. YMMV. |
I retro fitted several Arai's and it's real easy realy no sweat and much easier then fogcity.I tried that once myself and totaly ruined it and trew it away(my fault I admit but it's a ***** to aply right).I did however have an fogcity hyper optic insert in one of my arai's(hyper optic changes color with the sun)and it works great. When I bought that though I aranged for the sales person to install it end she did install it very good. You have to clean your visor very carefuly with fogcity shields cause once it is aplied you cant take it of any more and dirt or fingerprints that are underneath it stay there.Very cool when you can't bring an extra light visor but do have a lot of sun during the day time. Now you can order pre installed visors from arai and shoei to but as I said fitting the pinlock is easy as hell.Just tape up the places where you drill with clear tape.then you put the suplied thingy on that marks the exact spot and just drill away. Here in the netharland though most dealers will drill it for you if you don't trust yourself. Also like the colered pinlock inserts.I have an amber one that is great under foggy conditions.Don't know if they still sell the colered once.
