Ride report and a strange story

Did a little two-hundred and fifty mile or so jaunt yesterday. Beeling Highway to the 188 to the 60 and back to Phoenix. Same ride Steve A and I did, but this time with a Kbike and a GS.

So here's the story... after getting on the 60 and coming back towards Phoenix, I tell everyone that enforcement is high for the next 20 miles. Some of you may recall the pictures last year of me getting written up by a DPS officer.

V1 goes off shortly after and I slow down to speed limit (55). A few seconds later an office drives by the other direction running radar.

I proceed to start passing again and running about 90 or so. only 3-4 minutes later, the trusty V1 goes off again and I slow down to limit. This time, there's one parked in exactly the same place where I got my last ticket. He lets me go by.

I proceed to start passing and speeding and as I'm passing a semi on the double yellow, I get a couple of beeps. I'm sorta committed, so I continue passing and slow down when I complete the pass. 3 cops with their lights on come bearing down on me the opposite direction. One veers half way into my lane and I can see him enthusiastically pointing to the side of the road. $hit.... they must have a lookout somewhere. I'm done. I pull over on the side of the road and look in my rear view mirror. They keep going.

And so do I.

skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming,"'WOO HOO! What a ride!"

In that last picture, are you trying to put a condom on?! I guess you can never have to much protection.

I can relate! Last summer I was heading home from Trenton the back way-up along the river and then up Rt 31 towards Somerville. It was the Friday before July 4th w/e and HOT. I had just gotten on 31 and was checking my fanny pack strapped to the seat behind me and noticed it was a tad loose. So I pulled over to secure it and I was passed by a car that had been following me. It didn't take more than a sec to secure the pack, so I got back on the road with that car about 1/3 mi in front of me. I was thinking ahead to winding country roads and started to wind her out when I approached a blind curve on crested hill. Before I could do anything a cop was right in front of me heading the other way-DOH! I couldn't even come off the throttle a bit--I was busted doing 70 in a 50. I looked in my mirror and all I saw was his brake lights and dust as he began a 180 on the shoulder. He spun around and in about a second was heading up my butt all lights ablaze. Figuring I was toast, I began to pull over.....just to have him dust me and head for that car that had passed me! He went out of sight and when I caught up I saw he had himself a shiny white Volvo. Seems I wasn't the only one in a hurry to get home!

One of those 'your speed is XX' signs by my house seldom picks me up when I'm on the bike IF I am intermixed with a group of cars.

Perhaps because the sign would need another 'x'
