Cat Removal on 05 BCR

I'm installing a Laser cat eliminator on my 05 BCR and I'm having a hard time removing the cat from the bike. I removed the cans and the headers and the cat is now loose --> only supported by the frame supports. It seems I do not have enough clearance with the back tire to slide the cat out from the frame supports. Do I need to remove the rear tire or is there a way to get the cat out with the tire still on? Thanks in advance.

I had to cut the pipe with a hacksaw to get it out.

Kriley - it's been a long time since I did this job, but I'm reasonably certain I removed the rear wheel to do so. If you've a trolley jack you can raise the rear of the bike by placing the jack under the r/h side of the 'C' frame (ie where the centre stand lugs are) and the bike'll tip over to the left just enough to get the rear wheel off the ground. Put some tape/cable ties around the front brake lever to make the bike more stable.

Getting the wheel off is then a sub-1-minute task (remove caliper, undo 4 bolts)

Thanks guys. I had a feeling either the wheel had to come off or I'd have to remove the tabs from the cat. It was getting late though and I figured I'd ask some folks who had done it to be sure before I proceeded. Thanks again.
