OT: Shocks for the R65
Trying to decide on a set of shocks for the R65. The choice is between Ikon (7610) and WP (emulsion). You guys have any opinions on either shock?
Thanks

Assuming WP means Works Performance and not WP/WhitePower, then WP, hands down. Price is a bit higher, but they are sprung and damped and built for you and your weight and exact bike and riding style etc, rather than being one size fits all. They are also readily rebuildable, which over time actually makes them cheaper than the IKONs. If you decide they're too stiff, soft etc, they'll re-do them for the cost of postage. Despite the cost differential, this on is a pretty easy choice.

That's funny. I wasn't even thinking about Works Performance but rather White Power (Netherlands). Do you think Works is better than WP?
I'm told that Ikon's are rebuildable too.

Never seen WP (Dutch) used on any airhead anywhere.
Never seen a shop, nor heard of one, that rebuilds Konis or Ikons either. No nitrogen charge or recharge facility for them, short of factory, that I've heard of. I'd certainly be open to education about what WP offers for them, if anything, and from where, or for that matter, to learn that IKONs are truly rebuildable. If that's true, then I need to get up to speed myself. In any event, you have to ask if the damping and springing for either of the non Works Perf versions are custom, or one size fits all, even if the others are rebuildable. That is big hth roger

What about Progressive Shocks?
I replaced my R65 shocks last year with a set of Progressive shocks from Bob's. I liked them better than the factory original's I had originally.
In fact, I found them on Bob's "make me an offer" page and purchased them for a song. They were on the bike when I traded it a week ago Saturday for my new R1100S (just a small increase in displacement and power!) Just my $0.02 wildduc

Well, here's some info on WP and Ikon. The WP looks to be a nice shock. The Ikon's are probably a small step above the stock Boge.
Works does appear to be a more custome shock for around the same price as the WP (about $400 with discount from Lindemann). I spoke with a tech at Works and they really seem enthusiastic about their product. I suppose if I go with the Works rear I should go with the Works springs. I guess that is a question. WP rear shocks: http://www.wpsuspension.com/ 4014 Emulsion Suitable for Tourer, Sportler, Chopper and Cruiser bikes - Some models with free-floating, integrated separation pistons in main body - Pressure and preload adjustment - Very good cooling properties - Lightweight - Adjustable length is standard - Recognised safety certificate -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4014 Fusion 4014 shock absorbers with reservoir fixed by a steel flex making it easy to mount in a convenient place - High/Low speed separately adjustable, each 16 times (256 possibilities in total) - Pressure and preload adjuster - Suitable for Tourer, Sportler, Supersportler, Chopper and customised bikes - For drivers wanting the upmost from their machine, whether touring with baggage, with a pillion passenger or on the race track - Exceptional cooling properties due to the use of heat diverting aluminium alloys, therefore constant shock absorbtion and longer life - Lightweight through use of high quality materials - Adjustable length is standard - Recognised safety certificate -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Super Competition 4616 Piston diameter 46 mm - With Reservoir - High/Low speed separately adjustable - Lightweight due to CNCmachined aluminium component-system - Exceptional cooling properties through use of heat diverting aluminium alloy and a larger reservoir, supporting constant shock absorption and heat diversion - 18 mm piston rod for increased volume of oil movement Ikon shock info: http://www.ikonsuspension.com/index.html The shocks we make are all rebuildable. Many have externally adjustable rebound damping (7610 series) and adjustable spring preload. Our 76 series has adjustable spring preload but fixed rate damping. 7610 Series Twin Shock for Bikes with conventional suspension Externally adjustable rebound with just a finger touch Spring seat adjustable in three positions Progressive Spring Chrome finished body Rebuildable

Who does the Ikon rebuilds now?
I should probably stock some of their stuff.
