Question K1200S vs ??R1200S???

Am i making a big mistake here?
Buying a K1200S now and not waiting for a new super cool R1200S. of course nothing that cant be fixed later with the injection of some money.
Is the R1200S for real, i am told it is, but when?

I would wait to see if there's an R1200S or not, and if there is, cross your fingers it looks good. All the new R12s run really well so far. I'd be concerned that the K isn't sorted out yet. If you wait and find out there's no R1200S, the K will have had more time to get sorted anyway as an '06.

As the proud owner of a K1200S, I'd still wait for the new R12S. The K is great, but I never would have bought it if I still had the R.

.....Buuuuuuut 167 horsies make me smile every day and a R bike will never be stupid fast like the K....

My dealer insures me there's gonna be a R1200S in the second half of next year.I don't think your making a mistake though if you like the K1200S it will always be different to the R1200S by engine principale and also the front end on the R will b different to the K.A German BMW bike engeneer said that there will be no R's with Hossack type suspension. He actualy said that there will never be an R with that type of suspension but never is something youi couod never be sure of imo.

I'm waiting for the R1200S to decide whether to upgrade the '04 BCR. If it doesn't come within the next year, I may go for the K-S or K-R... or something like a Tuono... choice, choices

OK, AB, here's the plan.

Since there's no shortage of square footage in hangar bay 2 & 3 (assuming someone parks outside), get the '05 BXR first. Decide between the '04 & '05 which is better, THEN get the K12S just to reinforce your liking for the donkey bike. By that time, the R12S will be available and we'll all get them.

Whaddya think?

Don,

the Tuono makes a great 'out for the afternoon blast' bike. Needs a little suspension tuning unless you're riding weight is over about 240 lbs. Otherwise light, powerful and fast. But you must have already ridden one. Not good for any extended cruise over 90-100 MPH, the wind blast is horrendous.

see ya later,

I think the K12R will be the bike to own. Hopefully it will be out in the power cup colors. I was fortunate to take one out for a 90min jaunt through the German countryside at the BMW biker meeting in Garmisch over the long weekend. Here are some pics. An interesting K12S from Russia with an underseat exhaust.

We've waited this long for a worthy successor to our beloved R1100S so whats another year? Sometimes when I ride my current S I enjoy myself so much that I hardly need to upgrade anyway... so I will be patient and see what eventuates. Meanwhile the bank balance can grow and a considered decision can be incubated...

Good point Rat, i ride my SA and want to just have another in case it gets broken, i like it that much, so i built the BCR, now i see how advanced and even better the new stuff is, safety first in Acid land, my Females demand it, if there is a safer bike make you you ride it the most is what they say.

Up from the $29K you paid. Don't think so. Why? when you can have a 2007 V-4 for $29K.

keep thinking, that the V-4s are spoken for is what i am told, the 9r's are collectable, now and getting hotter.

Not if you look at the secondary market and what the MSRP is at the dealer on new ones. Collectible items usually go for above initial MSRP, even in the secondary market. V-4 will not be spoken for once the 2ind production is out. Its no surprise Ducati has the largest fan base that buy bikes merely for their art appeal. So lets be realistic here.
