Deckers, Victor, Cripple Creek Colorado - Pics/Videos

Hope y'all don't mind another ride report with images/videos clogging the topic listing here. If interested, a fine Colorado ride is the Deckers Rd... basically a 60 mile lonely, twisty, hilly, scenic road through the Pike National Forest. Maybe some of you know about this. Hooked up with with a friend on a KGT to take this road to equally sweet roads around the historical mining district of Cripple Creek. Turned on the camcorder, and instead of a three minute highlight film, basically posting entire sections of the ride. Maybe appealing if interested in an armchair ride with S exhaust and a tune accompanying each...

Streaming Video #3 (8:30) - The Ascent to West Creek and Above
Streaming Video #4 (5:52) - The Victor and Cripple Creek Loop
Streaming Video #5 (3:50) - Trout Creek to Rainbow Dr. Descent
Streaming Video #6 (6:40) - The Return to Hwy 285

My wife and I love your videos. Please keep them coming. I hope you don't mind if I share with friends. We can't wait until Sept when we will be in Northern NM, western CO and Moab.

Start September 10th
Sat & Sun Drive to Santa Fe
Monday Santa Fe to Ouray 350 miles
Tuesday Ouray to Cortez 167 miles Visit Mesa Verde National Park
Wed & Thurs Cortez to Moab 220 miles Spend a full day exploring parks. Maybe rent a car.
Friday Moab to Gunnison 364 miles By way of 46-90-141 to Grand J then 65 to 92
Saturday Gunnison to Santa Fe 317 miles By way of 149
Sunday Spend a full day in Santa Fe before leaving for home
Monday Leave for home.

Do you ever get over to Gunnison? If so please do a video of Hwy 92 to Crawford, one of my favorite roads.

I like your riding style and the way you stay away from the yellow center line, very smooth.

Thanks Philip! You have a great ride planned. I'm in Gunnison often. And hmmmmmm.... well, found two vids from the area...

Hwy 92 Black Canyon of the Gunnison

The preceding is a "cruise" mode tour of Hwy 92. A classic instrumental accompanies.

Following the Black Canyon, turned the camera on again at Paonia Reservoir to the top of McClure Pass. I'm chasing a XX on a fully loaded bike. This is also a sweet section of road.

Hwy 133 Paonia Reservoir to McClure Pass

September is a fantastic time to travel and ride the area.

Thanks for the videos. Hwy 92 is great, even my wife said that road is fun. I haven't been on that section of 133 for quit a few years, thanks for the memories and I will travel it again in the future. I remember riding 92 before they repaired it, no guard rails and the surface was terrible. I rode it last in Sept 03 and it was perfect.

Keep them coming.

Philip

When I lived in Colorado Springs from 84-88 I used to ride Woodland Park to Deckers and on past the little store all the time. We called the big hill past Deckers, Horsepower Hill. Woodland Park to Cripple Creek was quite a ride too.

More good videos with sound. Good work. This latest map also gives me some sense of direction and where you are riding. I once visited a friend that lived in Woodland Park. The drive to the top of Pikes Peak was a real eye opener.

Still called Horsepower Hill. In video #6 we climb it and I call it out. As you know, it is one long, grade up at 8000ft. and the name it is given is apt.

Yeah, a diverse selection of tunes. Something for every taste. Well, actually, don't think C&W is accompanying any of the vids .

Highway 92, which is great - nice curves, scenery, and remoteness, was one of those catalysts that drove me to trade in my original '99 F650 for the S when it came out. Along with McClure pass. I had these visions of being on a rail winding through the canyon.

Nice area to ride for sure. My son and I rode this area of the front range last year, and down the back side of Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park. He lives in the Springs and can do it most any time. It ain't fair
