Tank and Side Panel Protection
I am interested in any info R1100S owners have regarding items to protect the paint on the tank and sidepanels (which are in constant contact with your knees). I have not been able to find any tank wraps, 1/2 tank covers, etc. The only tank cover so far has been the "full" coverage Bagster product. I am currently using three carefully cut pieces of Lockhart Phillips carbon fiber-look vinyl sheets on the lower center of my tank and on the knee contact area. Looks pretty good against the Black paint, but I wouldn't know with the yellow or red. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't seen it so I can't tell you how much of the tank it covers, but BMW has a "tank cover" that Competition Accessories had for about $70. Let us know what you find out.

I spoke with a salesperson at Competition Accessories Saturday at some length. He could not find any tank cover applications for the R1100S. Of course, he could have overlooked some application. Jsherman, do you have a contact name at Comp. Access.?
Thanks! Paul W. |

Response to the Tank cover issue, I have placed K75S knee pads on my yellow 1100S. They look great! Upside down on the opposite sides from each other and they look like they were made for the bike.

No, I'm sorry. I didn't get a contact name when I talked to Competition. They did quote me prices on both the tank bag ($308.75) and the tank cover ($70.50) though. If I can get any more info I will post it for you.

An update on tank covers - I purchased the Bagster tank cover with their smallest tank bag (8.5 liters) and their map holder. It looks like a quality product(from France), with a good fit and nice touchs like sewn in knee pads. If you are not familiar with the Bagster line, the tank covers have the bag attachment fittings sewn into the cover. The bags snap right on, are very secure, and snap off easily for gas stops. There are 10 tank bag sizes from 8.5 to 40(!)liters with many colors available. The importer is ITALJET USA at 888-482-5538. You can check out the products at www.bagster.com. Hope this is helpful info!
