OK, so I have just managed to lay my hands on what must be the last brand new, still in crate, HP2 Enduro on the planet for the original '05 price.
With a few mods, like the 23l HPN tank and the small Wunderlich windshield and some other mods (actually a lot of them...) I will be all set. So I went from the r1100s to the k1200r to the r1200s to the r1200GS. And the GS really did it for me but is, in retrospect, a very heave machine with, nevertheless, great allroad abilities. As long as it doent't get too tough. And that's where the HP2 Enduro comes in. Allroad abilities but also really good offroad. It will arrive at my dealership tomorrow but I won't bring it home until Feb until all mods are done. The weather's ****ty anyway! ![]()

Well, sort of had them all...
Difficult if you don't know what you really want, took me 3 years to switch from track-kinda-stuff to allroad. I have to admit that I really like these types of bikes, always had a soft spot for the real offroad work although I never did that. The HP2 seems to give you best of both worlds. Raw usable power, not too heavy, big enough for travel with (a bit of) luggage. Too expensive too but hey, now I own a new, 4 year old classic...

Depending of the setup of both machines between 30 and 40 kilos (without panniers).
In my case the difference will be about 40 kilos with the stock 13 liter tank and 30 kilos with the 23 liter HPN tank.

Do i understand you right, you got rid of the GS and replaced it with this? do you have any intention of putting high milage highway days down on the HP2E? I think you you owe it to posterity to ride at least one 600 or 700 mile day and report on how it felt, relative to to the GS. BTW, you are a HERO to all of us who cant keep a vehicle more than 18 months.

![]() --- Well, actually I kept a lot of bikes I really liked for a few years. My first R1100S, had it 3 years. My R1200S 2 years and when I gave up track riding I moved to the GS and now to, in my eyes the ultimate compromise between on- and off-road. And before that I had a Duc 900ss for 3 years and so on. But yes, I do change quickly if it's not my thing (anymore). I can't afford to keep 'm all, I should build a BIG garage!
