surging

Has anyone had problems with surging on their 1100S? I have a violent surge that happens after I back off the throttle after running fast or accelerating hard. It only lasts a second and almost feels mechanical in nature. the bike was purchased new, has about 2500 miles and the only mod is that it did not come with a charcol canister. My dealer's mechanic has made adjustments but it has not helped. Thanks Jeff

I experienced very minor low-throttle surging after 5000 miles. It was gone after the 6K miles tune-up/throttle body sync and was caused by normal stretching of the cable between the two throttle bodies. New cables will stretch in the first season. You should not experience major surging with the new motronic system. I suspect the canister removal was not done correctly, or else there is some problem with the fuel injection. Any electronic fault should show up in a standard motronic computer check by the dealer. If your dealer verifies the surging he must correct it, it should not happen.

Thank you for the response. I should have added in my post that the mechanic checked and there were no faults. It only happens after running 90 plus mph or after accelerating hard through the gears. Then it happens right after the throttle is backed off. Needless to say I don't want the mechanic riding my bike that way. I will inquire about the canister as I purchased my bike new and it did not come with one. The dealer offered to install one at the time, but I declined.
