rear right turn signal-snapped (please ignore following empty posts-glitches)

ok--i tipped her over, and the right rear turn signal snapped at the stalk and the bulb inside broke. the yellow lens is ok

without reopening the "should i do lockhart philips " thread, here are my questions:

i am most interested in ease of replacement--it's now hanging by a cord. what do i need to do to replace, assuming i just get a standard bmw replacement? do i have to take the rear bodywork off? etc. or does the new one screw on, and i just connect the cord inside? is this a dealer job--i am not wone to be dissassembing the bike if i need not...guidance would be great!

if i do have to do all that, i' d be more amenable to an aftermarket solution--one that looks nice---and not too expensive.

thanks

Welcome to the "I dropped the *****er" club. The membership is large and distinguished.

The signal replacement is a piece o' cake, even I can do it , and have more than once. Take one off put one on.No need for dealership involvement on this one. As for aftermarket choices there are beaucoup and it would be worth your while to do a search here.

Myself I'm awaitin' on Rapiddog to get his CNC bits together.

Wunderlich used to sell a replacement rear signal stem made out of aluminum. I have them on both sides of my bike & they cure all know problems with loose rear signals & tipovers.

It's not obvious if you haven't checked into it before, but BMW even sells the stalk separate from the whole housing. Easy bolt on with no mech experience required. I bet you'll have no problem.

Check eBay and IBMWR marketplace. They show up quite regularly. I switched to the blinker Buds, and will next do one of two things:

1) wire in a second circuit with back feed blocking diode and step down resistor so the Blinker Buds become half-strength running lights

or

2) machine larger pieces of black Delrin for more diodes and split the circuits.

Either way, I'm impressed with how bright 4 LEDs can be!

careful what you order- after my teenage son's third walking by incident it broke for good. I ordered over the net and got new lenses and also pod and new lenses but no stalk. On ebay two new stalks recently sold for full retail. I'm shoe gooped and washered together until I "HAVE" to ride two hours on a twisty road, sunny day of course to my nearest dealer to save shipping again.

I just broke mine last week. just brushing up against snapped the little tab off. Last time I replaced it, this time I drilled and used a very small self tapping screw...
