aprilia RSV-R (the grass is greener on the other side)

I just purchased an Aprilia RSV-R

This machine is unbeliveable
With trick stuff like: Ohlins racing suspension & steering damper, composite resin gas tank, and titanium racing pipe, OZ forged aluminum wheels, and programmable dashboard
The mags say it will do 170 mph with 112 hp

The Aprilia is scary quick !!!!

I know I will offend some of you R1100S loyalist
But the grass is definitely greener on the other side (that is the Italian side)

Yes I will miss my R1100S
But life in the fast lane is SO DAM NICE

Watch that light in your rear view mirror
It might be an Aprilia RSV-R coming up W F O

See Ya

Mark

Mark,
Congrats on a great bike. I looked at them before getting a Ducati as a stablemate for my S. The thing that turned me off was the lack of dealer support. I lurked the Aprilia list for awhile and came to the conclusion that the dealer network for parts and maintenance wasn't there yet. Hope your experience is good on this front.
I also have heard bad insurance quotes.
Have you de-restricted your bike? Supposed to be a cheap/easy power increase.
Ride safe,
Bob

Hi Mark,

Yes, the RSV-R is a wonderful machine - I have often said that this is the only bike out there which would tear me away from my beloved S.

I test rode one recently at my local dealer here in the UK. Superb. One of the great things about it for me, being 6'3" is the riding position and the bike's good size.

That Ohlins really does the trick too! I've a gut feeling that the R could well turn out to be a bit of a cult bike over here very soon, certainly it seems to be the 'thinking man's sportsbike'.

I love it am and not a bit envious of you! (irony alert, irony alert).

Enjoy!

Richard.

Bob

Their curently isnt a dealer in St. Louis
but I believe the local BMW dealer is trying to obtain

My insurrance is only $290 per year (that dosent cover medical)

My RSV-R is already de-restricted (cut a green wire and you are ready to go)

Supposedly you can 15 hp

Why cant BMW do something like this???
Instaed going for Horse Power, they have to add catalytic converter (the thing weights a ton)

I will keep you updated

Thanks

Mark
