R1100RT filler neck on an 1100S?

Hey all,
I've been reading about the R1100RT filler neck adding a couple tenths of a gallon to the 1100S's capactiy. How much capacity does it actually add? What is all involved with swapping out the filler necks, and how much does a R1100RT filler neck cost? Is it as simple as taking out 6 screws, pulling the original off, and screwing the new one in place?? Sorry, lot of questions. Appreciate any and all replies.
Young, Dumb, and full of sticky stuff,
Zech

Hi Zech

I did the RT filler neck about a year ago, it has its pro and cons. You get about 2 or 3 tenths more "go juice" in the tank. You should remove the evac canister if you have one because it will lose fuel out the vent tube when you fill up if you park it and the bike is hot.

To install it you must remove all the body work on each side then the center one on the tank. Then remove the screws holding the filler neck/cap on, these are the ones you see on top. No you can't just remove them to get to the filler neck without the body work off because the center tank piece sets on top of the filer neck. You must now gently remove the filler neck, careful not to knock off the plastic bulb that surrounds the vent pipe. You must remove both the vent line and overflow line. These are secured with BMW pinch clamps that you will most likely need to replace. Install is the reverse other than the new filler necks vent tube must be bent so that it goes forward not off to the side.

Hope this helps
Rad
