follow up on my laguna seca crash

The sprained ankle is healing nicely. The S on the otherhand at this point in the process was totaled. By mid week of next week I will know for sure. Right now I am assuming I am in the market for a replacement. The GS has intrigued me for some time, and though I don't feel I am done with the S I am going to rent a GS for a day and see how it compares to the S on some of the roads I find most challenging with the S. On the other hand if anyone knows of a silver/mandrin or black, or maybe a red S that is forsale I would be interested in hearing about it. I have found a 99 version of each. I want ABS and heated grips. Bag mounts would be a welcome addition as well.

thanks,

Daniel

Dan, I don't mean to be an ambulance chaser but if you decide to go with a GS what are you going to do with your Ohlins? if you are going to sell them, depending on your weight, I might be interested. Jeff

Dan;

Just to let you know.I sold my S on Friday night..The reason was the GS..I have really fallen in love with this bike..The only thing that it will not do like the S is top end..

I liked my S and did a lot of things to it;it just did not rattle my cage anymore..I also wanted to get into the camping thing a little more and some light off road touring..The one thing about these GS guys they really like to tour and ride..let me know if you get one and maybe we can hook up sometime and ride..

If I decide on the GS I will be having a sort of fire sale on my S aftermarket stuff. I was told that the rear shock on the S works on the GS, so that might not be for sale. The list of stuff, (which I must add is a reason I want to keep going with the S, it is finally perfected,) includes a Corbin seat with back rest and rain cover, ilmberger hugger, extra mirrors, possibly a new set of Ohlin's, rear fender extender, and maybe a set of system/city bags ... I find the S a good solo camper, and a decent two up camper. It has more class pulling up to a classy restaruant although a two wheeled suv probably will fit in just fine. Not that I ever go to such places anyhow. And I like the rider position much better. As a two up bike it is good, but I suspect the GS is roomier and can be loaded up more. I have a girlfriend now, so I am not going to be flying solo as much anymore. Personally I would take the S solo any where. But two up the GS is looking appealing more then before. I wonder if I can put clip ons on it and raise the pegs? And no more 207 GP's, sniff.

Anyhow. I will keep you all posted.

Dan...
I would like first crack at the hugger if you decide to part with it.

Hi, Dan. Happy to hear the ankle is well. I have been thinking for a while now to get an Aprilia Mille R. You probably remember that I have a 2000 S special edition, with the sport suspension (and ABS, stainless steel brake lines, bag mounts, heated grips, two screens and more). I love it-but I may part ways with it. Not yet sure. Lets chat some time? My home phone number is 408-997-3657
