Cool 6000 Plus Mile Service

All,

After about 3.5 months I've hit the 6000 mile mark. So, it's service time. In California you generally have to book a service call far in advance or you'll have to wait a while. And if you want a loaner bike with the service the wait is even longer. I made my appointment about three weeks ago for June 20. Unfortunately, I'm at 6008 right now. All of the appointments till the 20th are booked at my favorite shop. So, my question is how much over 6000 miles do guys think is OK?

I've already prepared the R65 for commuter service again so I may just ride that bike until I take the S in for service.

I was late on my 6000 mile service on my RT once and the service lady murmured while looking at the odometer that "it was o.k. since I was within 1500 miles"
.
For whats it worth. I assumes that covers any warranty issue(s) regarding buyer responsibilities for servicing the bike.
.
Who knows.?
.
Hey you live in Martinez... Call Ozzies BMW in Chico. Make a day of it and its cheaper and a good ride. IMHO.

Ditto,

it's a nominal number, not a purely objective one. Consider that everyone rides differently, and every bikes comes from the factory with different tolerances. No way you can pin an exact number down, and I've not personally known a dealer to ever be that tight either. I'd feel bad about showing up at 9000 miles with engine damage and expecting great coverage, but surely within a thousand miles is ok. The only thing vaguely critical is valve clearance. If you were really worried about those, you can easily check them, even if you're not comfortable with adjusting them. Just checking, and having peace of mind until your service is quite easy. Food for thought.
