Torpedo,

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and received some good info (do an archive search) and some useless chatter. In any case, it seems that the S has a tough time with wheelies in stock form. From some of the post it seems that once the chip and pipe are changed it's a lot easier to lift the fron wheel.

let your bike brake in and then it's easy...

easiest to begin with is the power wheelie;
1st gear 5500rpm sit upright and as far back as possible on the front part of the seat, then release the throttle till the nose dives in , then wack the throttle open while tugging on the bars.

ps. Keep the rear brake covered so you can allways prevent the bike from flipping over.

The S is not an easy bike for it, because of the weight on the nose. A trailie type or a Blackbird type is much easier, the first because of the seating position, the second because of the smooth power buildup, chaindrive and the sweet balancing point.

I would advise to hone your skills on a cheap dirtbike before flipping your expensive
S over backwards or sideways.

If this is something you have to do, make sure there less than a 1/2 tank of fuel.
(the less the better)

And if you've never wheelied a bike before the S isn't a good place to start, I would not advise it.... but it's very capable.

Well, I pulled my very first wheelie on this bike, it came up about a foot or two (I think, but more than an inch or two). I basically had it at 5,000 rpms in 1st gear and just whacked it while lifting the bars a bit.

Now after practicing here and there (AND letting the bike break-in!) I'm able to do them more controlled by just whacking the throttle above 4K and just jerking up the bars a bit.

It's a heavy bike, but like others I have heard that the exhaust and chip combos out there really make it "wheelie happy" -- if that's what you like.

I was able to get her up tonight a little bit (6 inches or so) while running at 40 and dropping down to 2nd and whacking the throttle.

Can't wait to tune her a bit more....

Get some luggage bags and fill them up. Wheelies are no problem.

Andrew,

A much cheaper alternative to the luggage racks is to put your wife/girlfriend on the back and tell them to hang on ... tight!

Regards
Paul
