Trashed my front rim, Stranded in MI

Anyone have any idea where I can get a front rim for my 99 r1100s abs. Some jacka$$ left a 45lb weightlifting weight on the highway, a truck ran over it and threw it in my lane. It trashed my front rim and caliper, dented my header pipe pretty good, put a nice 1/8'' deep slash in my frame, and about took off my foot. I am currently staying with my brother in downtown detroit, my baby is at the auto salvage yard waiting for me. I a college kid running very short on money, and needs to be in class as soon as possible, I am about 700 miles away from home. Can I get any other rim to fit on the front? I dont care if I have to disconnect my front brakes or whatever I just need to get back on the road. Anyone with any help please let me know. Thanks for everything.

Will your insurance take care of this?

baw335 10-30-2005 02:15 PM

I talked to beemer boneyard this morning and he doesn't have any left. Hey Lance I didn't get your pm, my e-mail address is baw335@msn.com if the pm doesnt work. I don't know about the insurance, I carry a $1000 deductable. I would rather not make a claim since I can hardly afford the insurance as it is.

Hey lance, sounds good, I will call around tomorrow and see if I can track one down. Thanks for your help, I will let you know if I need help with the tire or anything. I will keep you posted. Thanks again

Ouch!

I have some of those parts for you. Which caliper is messed up? I know I have ayellow wheel, maybe a silver one too.

baw335 10-30-2005 05:35 PM

I already have a caliper for it, what do you want for the wheel?

baw335 10-30-2005 05:36 PM

I would prefer the silver but anything to get me home is ok. I guess powdercoating this fall is always a possibility

Who bought the shop?

baw335 11-04-2005 02:08 PM

Got home yesterday, I got a buddy to drive out and pick me up. Ill post pics soon on why not to hit a 45 lb weight at 90 mph. Thanks for the help everyone.

Steve, Cliff, Jim's partner bought it. word on the street is that Cliff will run it into the ground within a year. Every time i've gone into BMW Detroit, i feel like i'm intruding on someone's private garage benchracing/gripe session, rather than a valued customer who might spend a ton of money at their store. as a result, i've taken my business to other dealers who appreciate my stopping in their store...
