BMW conceptbike...COOOOOL

Give the Italians a HP and let them create this!

http://www.motociclismo.it/edisport/moto/notizie.nsf/SommarioPub/3762387523E0FE36C12570BC005852DC?OpenDocument
for those who read Italian...the design was done by Marabese (who made Guzzis and the new Morinis (I think))....and this project took 2 weeks...at least that is what they say...
COOOOOL

Nice. I see they kept the "infamous" switch gear.

Wow I wouldn't mind having one of those to fool around on!Somehow it reminds me of the Borelli bikes don't know quite why though.

I find that thing odd, and slightly disturbing.

agreed...

Just because someone is great with cad and bold with ideas doesn't automatically make for an appealing outcome. Just my 2c. Hideous is the first thing that comes to mind. Some nice elements though, just not complete enough and pretty darn goofy.

I don't think Marabese uses CAD a lot; most of it is handwork.
Using CAD says nothing about the design (the Benelli Tornado was also made with Alias/CAD and then milled in clay...)

I agree that some of the design cues are interesting. I don't find it repugnant at all, quite the opposite. Kudos to anyone for trying to fit that powertrain into something different.

That said, the:
Headlight sux.
Muffler sux. Why, particularly on a "dual-purpose" platform anyone would go AWAY from the under-seat muffler baffles the H out me. Get the exhaust as high as possible, away from rocks, water and tree stumps.
Potential road clearance on the R11xxX and R12xxX series powertrains is HUGE, it should be put to use, even in a street bike.
Tube frame is beautiful! Chrome-moly steel is as light as aluminum when designed correctly, and quite a bit stronger.
Luggage was not part of this design, okay I can live with that. But the potential is again HUGE.

I'd like to see more "studies" along these lines, and if I was richer and not sooo darned good looking I'd be building a few myself.
