Possible Problem w/ R1100S

Hey everyone, I don't know how old this is, but it was posted on RPM Motorcycles' site (Reg Pridmore's Motorcycles) in Ventura CA.

"Do you have a R1100S? I got one. If it falls in the VIN range of ZB50000 to ZB51899 and you have the high handle bars, go to your local BMW dealer and have them check your bike. No problems have happened yet. We want to prevent one from happening."

Just thought I'd pass it along, like I said, I have no idea how old that note was. Great people at RPM, finally got to check out an R11S in person, though I was unable to ride one! http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/frown.gif They have none in stock, but the owner parks hs out front so people can check it out/sit on it etc.

Ride fast, ride safe! http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

A friend in Germany had his recalled due to the Touring Bars some time back. Would guess it to be old news.

I wonder how your dealer thinks he is ever going to sell an S if all you get to do is sit on his one. It took two rides before I bought mine.

I know, they are simply out of stock at the moment! It is a small place, and he says some are due in, so he leaves his out for people to look at until more arrive. They are the only BMW dealer near me and they all seem very open to any questions I've had, they just don't have much of a selection! lol

It is looking to be quite awhile before I make a purchase now anyway (had a little surprise financial drain) http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/frown.gif But I'm sure before I'm ready to buy I'll get a couple rides in.

Of course, if anyone in the LA area want's to get together for a ride sometime, I'd be more than happy to swap bikes for a few miles and check one out! http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/biggrin.gif

Later guys,

Are ya closer to San Diego than LA? Do ya ever make it down toward Palomar Moutain or Borrego? I'll meet ya up at Mother's one weekend if ya like. Or give Brech BMW (I think that is the name)a call and ask for Jimmy. He'll give you the keys to an S bike if they have one. I road one a couple times before I was sold and they didn seem to mind. I reeaally wanted a GS, but the financing was too good to pass up on the S bikes.

JF,

I'm actually due West of LA, just above Malibu. I'll make the trip down to SanDiego though to go riding sometime. I generally stick to the canyons up here, but am always willing to explore! http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif
