Will CRG bar-end mirrors work on 1100S?
Will the CRG Hindsight bar-end mirrors work on a R1100S? Do you need the CRG adapters that fit into the bar? Or do you need to move the controls inward and leave the end-weights in place? I guess my real question is how are the bar-end weights mounted to the bars?

Ray Ray,
The bar ends on the S have a machined nut at their tip, so there is no way to get an adapter into the bar-end. You could attach them by cutting back the grips (and the rotating throttle), but that could be ugly and use too much valuable bar space. Alternatively, you could machine-down the diameter of the bar end weights to 7/8", which would accept the standard CRG mounts, The best method (and least intrusive) would be to just mount a bunch of 7/8th" washers onto a longer screw and keep them outside of the weights. My guess is that there would be so much vibration from the S that these mirrors would be useless, regardless of how they were attached. And dont even think about removing the weights just to get fancy mirrors on! ![]() |

why would you want something that drops your vision down so low.
Those things suck.

I have CRG bar-end mirrors on my 93' 900SS Duc. Mostly due to my inability to get the stock mirrors to stay upright. They droop, they sag with vibration regardless of the many fixes I have found on countless Ducati sites. So, I installed the expensive but solid CRG bits. You gotta look way down to see what's behind you, so there is a lag time between looking forward and backward. Not a good thing on a motorcycle. I would not want to have two motorcycles with this liability.

hey Ole Bike, from your multiple posts it would seem that your quadruple vision would be a good reason for better mirrors. Have you considered something like this:

Maybe two fewer mirrors would be good. The stock mirrors are pretty but just not wide-set enough for my build unless I am riding in a t-shirt with one hand in my pocket. Some fix needed. I pressed "Submit Reply" and system just hung. Sorry about the multiple posts. |

Actually, I have the same problem, but then again I've never been able to see behind me without moving an arm on any sport oriented bike I've ever ridden. I just move an elbow to see, not a big deal. I would rather have the least vibration possible over an unobstructed rear view. I think the fairng mount is still the clearer view of the two options.

My experience with them has been that they provide a better view than standard mirrors, and vibrate less. I have had them on every sport bike I've owned. And I think they provide a much cleaner look than the standard mirrors. I'd be putting these on a '05 BCR, so it's not like I'd be removing the fairing mounted mirrors found on other R1100Ss.
