Interesing to compare the R1200GS and S; it is clear to see the camshafts have an extra bearing to cope with the extra rpm:

a few ideas

ok first, it can loose about a pound and look better... I see how to remove rear foot pegs.... the VERY FIRST thing !!

now second... why in the world don't BMW put a rear tire hugger/fender. I guess for track, the gunge up on the heat sheild is no biggee... just hope it does not rain on the back turns of the "ring"

Notice also how the Airbox is different than the R1200 RT/ST/GS, looks like it will flow more air, I can not wait to try it out.

I saw the new S last week at my dealership and at the Detroit bike show and I was amazed by it. BUT, I can't believe for that much money they can't spray on some more clear over the black tape stripes! I really don't think there was any clear over them at all. Even the Jap bikes shoot a little clear over theirs.

I think the big picture people would like to see is 1. What (if) will bags look like 2. How big will they be 3. How much

They are probably going to be very closely related to the side bags on the K1200S.

Great pics,thanks for sharing.
I still dont get this thing about people wanting panniers(bags)on the new S.It aint a sport tourer is it?Its a sports bike. They have already, judging by the photos suggested that a tank and tail pack is what you can have.It dont look like no touring bike to me with its ergonomics.Wanna tour with a sporty edge?Get an ST.Just tour?Get an RT.Now watch me be proven wrong and a rail and pannier set comes on the option list.Be a crying shame to stick panniers on it.Im my opion anyway.

Great pics B R Y & Thanks for the work.
I only have one problem, the previous model is SOOOO Sweet, I don`t needs one of dhese. No kidding, I really like the new bike but I like the 1100s so much. I fell for this girl. I have treated my other bikes like hookers, have fun, treat`em like crap and move on to the next one, but on this one,I broke a rules, I kissed her. Now I love her and won`t let her go.
Later,
Lane

the design firm i am art director for does tons of work for bmw cages {after sales & lifestyle } print publications, so I get access to the photo archives for all of bmw. it's all cool if i only post these lo-res thumbnail shots, the hi-res versions cost big bucks. i'll keep checking it every week or so & pass along any new shots that they post.
