An RC51 bites the dust
A friend of mine had made a video of his "get off" at Thunderhill in '04, and he needed it compressed for the web with some slow-motion edited in. Thought you might get a kick out of it. The bike was destroyed, at the scene he looked down at his arm and saw blood dripping from his sleeve. Compound fracture!
RC51 video (52 MB)

Sure. Latest trackbike is a GSX-R750. He's got a Speed Triple that I'd love to snag when he gets tired of it. Black with an underseat exhaust and properly reworked suspension.

Mmm RC51 - Close to the top on my "bikes to buy" once I hit the lottery. What happened?

Bummer. Did he break his left arm? Looks like it was out from his body as he rotated onto it in the sand.

Unbelievable.
Too bad about the bike. Can't really understand why it happened other than he must have leaned it right into the asphalt.

Leaned into the asphalt, slide out, or dumped the bike going to hot into/out the corner. Lowside is always preferable. Looks like a slide out from seeing the rear sweep around the front as it went down.

1st lap, tires are still coldish, been there done that in my youth!
It's just money and a some metal in the arm, been there done that too! The RC51 is a sweet ride by the way, too bad its riding position is way too radical as a street bike. And yes a lowside is much more preferable than a highside. Kenny Sr. refused to wear shoulder padding, his rationale: "If I highside I deserve to get hurt".

fortunately your friend wasn't hurt. Sad to see the RC51 go down, again, but glad your friend got out OK, that's more important. ![]()

that looked like a little to much throttle coming out of the corner, spun up the rear while leaned over. Ahh the excitement of racing.
does your buddy race AFM anymore? I don't remeber seeing that # on the open twins grid in 2005? I was gonna say glad he wasn't hurt to bad, but really that was kinda bad. I'll just say glad to see he is still riding. eddy

That spill finished his '04 season, and he didn't feel well enough for '05. He'll be back this year on a GSX-R750.
