Most times, you can work around it. Some times you have to go back home.

Earplugs should have been on your list too... There is no substitute... got out of town... realized things were noisy... Gas station papertowels won't work, neither will pieces of sponge from a dollar general store... Miserable ride.

...hmmmm, lessee...the was the time I went to the Octoberfest rally and drank alotta whiskey and found out I forgot my sleeping bag, brrr!!!...then there was the time I'da killed for a sharp edge (leatherman!) so I could snip my sidestand switch wires...

$20 bucks:
Bribe money while riding in Mexico. Night Riding dirtbikes on the beach dunes in San Queintin Baja. 8 of us guys riding a few miles down the beach from our campsite when we see 4 freelance mexican Army dudes with full autos, waving us to stop. There was no out running there lead squirters, we stop and in our best gringo spanglish we ask them politely how much is the fine for riding on the beach. they tell us $20 bucks each, or we take the bikes. So no one has money on them, so they let one of us go back to camp and get the $20 a peice to bring back, the whole time my buddy is getting the money, we are in the pitch dark 5 miles from anything in the middle of sand dunes with 4 mexican army dudes starring down the business ends of full auto weapons, scary ****. My buddy gets back, pays them off and we all change our shorts back at camp.
Since then I always stash a $20 for good luck somewhere on the bike, and has never happened since.

Still love riding in mexico and have paid countless petty bribes to the local Federales, have never crossed paths with any mex. Army personel since.

So like I get this call yesterday and I pick up the phone and I hear a person laughing so hard they sound like they are crying.
I ask whats wrong and Brads girlfriend,(Rochelle), states that brad has come out to the garage fully dressed with helmet and gloves on to go two up riding only he forgot his PANTS.
Yep, it seems the long john kid strikes again.

which is the reason for the poll subject, and also why, immediately after posting the poll, i voted for "i forgot to put on my pants".

and that story is ABSOLUTELY NOT true.
#1 i was IN the garage, not coming out
#2 i wasn't wearing my gloves yet.
had 'em in my hand.
but i wasn't wearing them.

helmet was strapped down, gloves in hand.

just wanted to clear that up.

okay here's the deal about the "forgot to wear pants":
it's not an excuse, reason or justification.

#1. that damn pillion-chick needs to get her own friggin registration. biitch keeps taking over mine.

#2. i am a victim/prime example of extreme anal-ity, with a taste of "some-timers".
plus i'll admit to an a'la'mode of borderline OCD when it comes to crawling on a bike.

i have a routine. i like my routine. i depend on my routine. it works.

here's what i did. i have no good excuse:
put on undies, socks and two layers of thermals.
went to garage to get pants.

on the way, noticed that one boot was zipped up and buckled closed. that bothered me.
stumped me.
i ALWAYS unzip my boots after a ride.
but here was the left boot, zipped up with buckles tucked.who did that? why?
focused on boot. unzipped boot. fondled boot. while racking brain to figure out who/why would zip up boot, i automatically put it on.
and then the other boot.
followed (in anal sequence) by jacket, then helmet.

i skipped completely over the whole part about putting on pants before boot, because the "mystery of the zipped boot" had me distracted.

so there.
that's my story and i'm sticking to it.
...stupid or not.

still it was worth it. how often do you get to see someone laugh so hard, they can't stand up?
