Buffeting Gone!

After reading post upon post upon post, I purchased a wide windshield from Cee Bailey. It's 17.5 inches high, with an extra 3 inches width. I tried it out on the highway and liked the extra wind protection on my torso but hated the LOUD buffeting on my helmet. I'm 5'8" and thought I'd be able to get completely under the wind, wrong. I thought my eardrums would explode at any speed over 60 MPH. Guess what? I found a cure and now love this setup. I've heard others speak about the Saeng Micro-Swirl Edging. It is great. I bought 4 feet of customer returned edging from the company, which is plenty for that big shield, cut it into 3 pieces, nice and quiet. I still have the short (12") shield and may try it on that too. If you buy it at full price it's $13/foot. Only $7/foot for the returned stuff.

could it be you are getting no buffetting because you are dipped down below the windshield so nobody sees who's riding that ugly beast?

(mostly kidding of course. but i'm not real fond of the look on that edging. you got more pics from the side?)

by the way, welcome aboard! i should be nicer to someone with only 2 posts.

Kind of agree with Scott. It does look a little funky Teacher. How does it stop the buffeting? Are there any forward vision obscurements? Looks pretty thick. I would be worried about that.

However, we're always open to new ideas. Its one I don't think we've seen before. Like Anton and Scott asked, could we get more pictures from different angles? Thanks.

Tough crowd.

Do we believe the size and shape or the edging did the job?

Bingo and Scott, I believe that the edging breaks up the wind. Just from feeling with my hand the wind goes higher by about 4+ inches and it's not as concentrated, if that's a good description. It's really not the thick edging that's so ugly, it's the BIG windshield. No doubt the stock shorty is prettier. This one's MANLY. I'll keep the short one for pickin' up the chicks.

Roger, The size and shape of the windshield took the wind off of my torso when riding at speed. The edging stopped the buffeting on my helmet. The benefit of the wider screen was not worth it, though, with all the buffeting. Now it is.

the saeng edging has been around for a while; I believe it's his first product way back in the peliestociene (1980's)
I have it on MY windshield...it adds 7.4 HP

I had one on my GS and it never came off. Actually it came off after I thought it was mounted but it wasn't. It does take a lot of pressure to really get it seated on the shield.

But I'd hate it if it flew away, I'd lose all those bugs I collected.

The reason there is no buffeting, is because the air is now *scared* of hitting you front on.... ( I would be too )
