Gary, I want YOU to buy one so WE can go endurance racing!!!
My old buddy danco, lately of Jake Holden/Jordan racing, can wrench and boarders local to whatever venue we're at can come out and help with scoring (free beer afterwards works wonders for the volunteer effort).
Time to call bates and get fitted for some new moo-togs?

Would be too much like getting rid of present wife & marrying her younger sister. The 1100S is fine for my present needs in a liter bike. When it's time for it to go I'd be more inclined to a GS as my tastes have edged to the dual-sport segment (have 4 already).

I have my race license sitting next to me on my desk, this weekend was to be my 1st race, but I'm putting that off til next year.

I'm not sure, yet. I haven't been able to change the tires or clean it up, so I've effectively put the sale on hold. It looks like I'm moving to PA, instead and selling my house. I'm not sure yet, though. I just lost my job yesterday and my head is still reeling.

Just have her younger sister move in and take turns.............errr, did I say that out loud.......

Just buy 1200 and keep it for riding fast and hard, and keep the 1100 for trips as it handles baggage better.

lance;
I've never met yuo but feel I know you thru this board.
This time will pass, as they always do. Life gives you lemons, you make lemonaide, etc, blah, blah.
It's NOT easy, but my favorite saying is 'every day above ground is a good day, the rest is a bonus'.
When I was 27 I fell off at high speed and bent myself, totalled the (new, and FINANCED, stupidstupidstupid) TZ250 I was on.
Lost my gig, got divorced, had to file bankruptcy; all in 6 months.
Lost a paid-for house, several cars, all my garage full of trick scoots.
Ended up joining the army cause they gave me an enlistment bonus big enough to pay my divorce attorney off.
I went from a homeowner with my choice of what I wanted to drive/ride to a PFC in a stinking-hot post in the southeast with nothing except a footlocker and 500.00 in the bank. At 27.
You WILL come back, if you have the mental fortitude, and I'm sure you do.
I know it doesn't apy the bills but I will hoist a shot of tequila tonight in the hot tub for your karma on the great wheel. stay sane.

"I'm not sure yet, though. I just lost my job yesterday and my head is still reeling."

Gigantic,

Been there and (minus the track day crash) done it all.
All that I can offer is the promise that it all does get better.

Now-a-days I occasionally wonder wtf happened to my beautiful wife, house & money - most of the time though I'm happy where I ended up and proud of the scars and the fact that through all of the bs/bad times I managed to keep my head up.

Best wishes on the new path.

Jeff

ps. enjoy your posts.

Man when it rains it pours. I know how it goes unfortunately. At any rate I hope you end up keeping her, you need something consistent to hold onto to help you through the "tough times" stay strong brother.

Funny how much we're alike: the week after I joined TPM and 1 month before the 1st track day is when I totalled my R11S. Prescient happenstance or circumstancial evidence? Hmmm. Doesn't matter, just like me, you'll be back on the Doney you love soon enough. It took me three years, but clearly, I was waiting to befriend you, man. *sniff* I love you [BTLS]In a non-****** sort of way[/BTLS].

Just having a good time.

That, my friend, is what I wish I would have done. I actually called the dealer Tuesday to buy the R1100S back - -but... she was sold.

I want one, but will wait a bit for the dust to settle a bit.

It's a sweet ride that I won't forget, taking, quick little putt up to Virginia City from Reno. It was real nice.
