MOTO-ST (Moto Sport Twins) is for production based twin cylinder motorcycles, ridden by teams of rider's in longer distance events.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) will sanction both the series and the race events. The Grand American Road Racing Association (Grand Am) will organize the series. Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP) will organize and operate the events.

Race lengths will typically be announced in segments of time, such as 3 hours or 6 hours. Where distance is announced, such as 500 miles, a time limit will be imposed. This would result in an announcement of 500 miles or 6 hours, whichever came first. Maximum race length through 11-1-2007 is 8 hours.

The classes open to our R11S/R12S are...

1. SuperSport Twins - SST

SST motorcycles must produce at least 90 horsepower and no more than 115 horsepower as measured on the official Dynojet Dyno in post race testing. Unless otherwise stated, minimum post race weight will be 400 pounds without the addition of fluids or ballast of any kind.

Each motorcycle on the eligible list will have a separate Technical Information Form (TIF) that will outline any allowable modifications from "as produced". The following motorcycles are eligible for competition in SST:

Aprilia 1000 Mille
BMW R1200S, RT, ST
Buell XB-RR
Ducati 749R, Monster S4R, ST4ST
Harley-Davidson V-Rod
Honda VTR1000F Super Hawk
Suzuki SV1000S

2. GrandSport Twins - GST

GST motorcycles must produce at least 75 horsepower and no more than 90 horsepower as measured on the official Dynojet Dyno in post race testing. Unless otherwise stated, minimum post race weight will be 390 pounds without the addition of fluids or ballast of any kind.

Each motorcycle on the eligible list will have a separate Technical Information Form (TIF) that will outline any allowable modifications from "as produced". The following motorcycles are eligible for competition in GST:

BMW R1100S
Buell XB12S Lightning
Ducati 1000 SS, Monster S2R, Multistrada, Supersport 900
Moto Guzzi Griso 1100

This looks like it could be a cool new race series for showing off our beloved R11S/R12S bikes, but will it get messed up by the AMA.?

Hey Tim, were you out Calabogie way on Sunday? I was heading up there after lunch and passed some sport bikes heading the other way back through Almont and there was a BCR in their midst ...you maybe?

Highlander179 06-28-2006 05:26 AM

there's s big stir going on with this new series in that at each round they will have "big cash payouts" which is going to be a kick in the groin to WERA. Reported purse amounts ranging from $25-100k...

Its an AMA sanctioneed series being brought to you by NASCAR and Rolex.

very interesting indeed. Good Luck N8!

That was me on the DDP S with the bags, it was a beautiful day for a ride .... except I almost hit a deer on Centenial Lake road. Good thing I had finished the frisky stuff and was on my way back down and was just cruising at 120 or so.

It's a great idea to get together sometime, maybe RC51Drag would join us too. Any ideas?

If you want some more company on your next ride give me a shout. From the looks of the bikes you were with I'll bet the rides are fun.
