BMW Track Day in October...
...Hi there to everyone!
Though born and raised in Germany, it took until last friday for me to get my first Beemer... ridden quite a few in the 70's, yet never owned one. That has changed now... a nice (Salmon Colored... wouldn't call it red!?) 2000 R1100S, ABS, Sarget Saddle, Throttlemeister, higher Bars and Windshield... 32xxx miles is now called MINE! My other bikes are: 2000 Monster 900i.e. - 2001 HD Sportster 1200S - 2002 748... ...and guess what? I LOVE THE BEEMER... have put about 350 miles on it last weekend, crusing the local mountains (Sunrise Highway, Banner Grade, Mt. Palomar etc.) and have foud nothing that would make me sell the bike anytime soon... it has ample power, nice tourque and can be moved rather quickly without feeling unsafe... ...needless to say that the next major test will be Buttonwillow on October 2nd... seems to be the annual BMW only event hosted by Mark Duncan's "The Track Club" and what Mark does usually turns out to be very well run! So, I guess my question is: Anyone else going (sign up usually through the CA dealerships)... looking forward to seeing you there. Forum is awesome... has helped me already... though if anyone could point my nose in the right direction to find a cat eliminator pipe (Two Bro's don't seem to sell just the pipe anymore... neither does laser, it seems.. or I am just to stupid) that wolud be greatly appreciated Thanks Ralf

...LOL... I know, been there with them quite a few times, as a matter of fact, just last week monday! You get used to it and you don't have to follow at full speed... just hang back and they'll be cool... or do as I did the first few times... ask for one of the instructors to lead yoou a few times... it's fun and you'll learn a boatload of lines!

welcome signet, glad you dig the S.
I'd love to do a track day up there some time. Do you plan to ride up and do the track time and back or trailer and ride?

..track day
...I usually trailer my bike up there... leaving here Sunday afternoon and sleep in the back of my PU if I am alone or motel or such if anyone tags along... I love this stuff. Reminds me of younger days, when the world was still just a blur (now that my vision is going, it's not even that anymore ;o)
As for the cat eliminator pipe, thank you Bob... I hope he will contact me... if not I'll try to find him... Thanks guys... and yes, I am loving this bike so far... who would have thought!?

....yessir, it is... I will probably be leaving SD around 5 PM, usually make it up there between 9 and 10 PM (depending on how adventurous I feel) and then spend the night, standing at the gate around 7:00 AM

...LOL, I'll keep that in mind when introducing it to my friends... should go over well! Actually, I am working on some graphics (As that is what I do for a living) and it should soon carry my personal not (like all the other bikes!)
