A few words of wisdom...
...found in this months BIKE magazine. This month they put the all stars from each category through the ringer;R1200GS,Tuono,R6,GSXR1000 and 999.
Anyways very interesting was the statement from Ian MacPherson himself a runner up in the Worldsupersport Championship; Once you got some confidence in it,in the tires, you are as quick as anything.I could go out with my mates on R1s and Blades and have no trouble keeping up.You can't quite feel what's happening, like you can on the other bikes so you have to look at a corner and just decide what speed you can do to get round it beforehand.Any problems?Traffic lights and junctions.I can't quite get both feet on the floor...;-)But if I was buying a bike purely for the road,it'd be this.I wouldn't buy a sportsbike... Praise indeed... |

I read that also Chris and was indeed impressed! I was having so much fun on the GS in Valley Forge State Park I got turned into the boss by MSF instructors saying I was doing stand up wheelies on the passenger pegs and jumping it off the rolling hills in the park.... whatever
![]() The bike does can do it all. Ive seen many of guys loaded to the gills with touring accessories and have a packed on high centr of gravity, but it still gets through the twisties awesome. N8! |

Maybe, but then I would rather go with the R1200Roadster even if I rather sit more forward like on the S which is still really comfortable for me...
But last weekend riding with Raven and two other guys on R1200GSs through some twisties in the Sierras on a 3 day ride,we had our work cut out for us...;-) Chris PS:Just between you me and the fencepost,I'd rather still have the S but with the options that make the GS so versatile;don't need the knobbies though...;-) |

Nate you were faster than me...;-)
Replied to Craig... The GS is indeed a awesome machine and the only problem for general consumption I can see if a guy really has only one bike for all occasions is the fact that the suspension is a little soft.So a faster guy on a track day has to deal with some back and forth motion or get some stiffer shocks... Chris PS:Jonny is that a picture of your baptism...;-)?! |

LOLOLOL (baptism...) That was a funny pic.
For sure the GS is pretty soft for sport riding. You guys have great roads out there! N8! |
