MSRP would be around $16,755 for one with ABS, heated grips, 6.0" rear wheel, and Ohlins. Prep/destination included. Add $580 (I think) for red/silver. Even around $14,000 before tax & license would probably be at/below cost. Hard to believe.

I like the R12S; having said that, I'm going to wait and see how the long-term reliability and user-ability-to-wrench-on turns out. I keep my scoots for a long, long time. The next stablemate will probably be a concours14. if the R12 turns out to be a dispose-o-bike (major component life measured as <50K) I wouldn't even consider it. not even being able to adjust the idle yourself without a visit to the dealer's proprietary, black-box computer is a major, major turnoff for me.

I like the R12S. I'd consider buying a used one down the road after its gets a more established reputation. My zx-14 super slabber rocket ship is sure fun. But a nice lighter twin in the canyons nearby for a few hours would be fun too. . JonyRR, Concours huh? Gotta be a lotta bike for the $$$ and it even has bags and 15000 mile valve adjustments whattttaaaaa know.!!!

I would love a R1200S, but the 11S still needs to be ridden and I can't trade my future retirement to swapping bikes so often at least until I can make the money to cover it.
