Valentine 1 on R1200S???

Has anyone put the valentine 1 on their R1200S? I'm trying to figure out a good place to place the radar on my bike.

Thanks for the link. Is the V1 in your way at all(visually)? Do you have the audio piece also or just the V1 hooked up?

I just received mine today.

I see it is actually a ZTechnik unit.

TJS, Can you post a picture of yours mounted? I have mine on but would like to compare mounting to see if I did it right. I ended up with the ZTechnik inscription upside down, but thats how they show it on their website.

ckcarr,

It looks like the top plate on that mount cannot be adjusted to aim forward. It looks like it will always be cocked to the left, or have you not adjusted it yet?

Robert

BTW, nice bikey !

The whole thing is adjustable 360 degrees. I want to be sure I have it set up in the most efficient manner.

The mounting I have right now is just like this (from ZTechnik site), except if I do it that way it will hit the fairing.

I'm planning on using with my GPS and not radar, (if that matters)

Don't you guys think that the right side of your bike is better for mounting so that your body does not block the rear radar sensor? Probably doesn't matter that much but I'm mounting on the right. Of course on the left side you have better volume control.

This is very helpful. Can anybody post a picture with a GPS or a V1 mounted? Also, how are you powering the GPS/V1? btw, can a small digital camera be mounted on it as well?

Thanks..

I don't want it mounted on the right as there is too much activity over there and I don't want to be reaching over to make adjustments or change pages on the GPS. Plus it's cleaner looking (on the R1200S) as the clutch reservoir is smaller.

You can mount whatever you want once the platform is set up. It comes with a pad of velcro that you can cover the top with.

As far as power, I'm planning on adding an auxiliary power outlet up there somewhere, connected directly to the battery.

???

Hi guys,

I just got that same mount from Motorcycleradar.com model 21007. It seems to mount only on the left side as it will not clear the clutch resovoir, unless I am missing something. I would prefer it on the right so the rear radar wont be blocked by my body.

Can this actually be mounted on the right? If so how?

Thank you,

Robert

Help me here...why does your body block the V1 on the left but not right? Is the rear sensor off-set to right side on the rear of the V1? Is mounting that critical if bars are moving? I too would like to see a V1 mounted and CK if you could post what aux wiring to the battery you used that would also greatly help..thanks..Phil::

Phil,

You make some good points, I thought it would be worth trying to mount it to the right as the rear sensor is offset to the right.

But then again, most radar is shot at you not from behind.
