Bob's Wrist Rest -vs- Throttlemeister
I looking to buy a throttle lock soon. I prefer not to use an o-ring. I have concerns about verdigris with the different metals used in the Throttlemeister, & I don't know anything about the Bob's WR. Which one would you choose?

Man it's flat out here!

Sorry I can't comment on either product since I've not used them.
I have a Throttle Rocker. If your longer trips take you over hilly roads then the T-Rocker is useful because you'll need to vary Throttle position to maintain a steady speed. If I understand correctly, the other two you note are friction type and therefor you have to overcome this friction to make small throttle adjustments to maintain steady speed on hills. The T-Rocker is not a Friction device. It's mainly a leverage improver that you rest the outer ball of your hand on. It's easy to adjust throttle position when riding on hilly roads. Lastly, the T-Rocker installs, comes off in ~10 seconds. I carry it in my Tank Bag and install it as the need arises. One thing the T-Rocker doesn't do that the other can is allow you to lock the throttle and remove your hand from the grip while still holding the throttle. If I need to remove my right hand from the Throttle but don't want to drop allot of speed I pull in the Clutch lever beforehand so that engine braking is negated. http://www.throttlerocker.com/

I have the mister on my 11. and a throttle lock my 900 duck. The lock is easier to use. Vista makes the throttle lock.

I just got a wristrest from Bob's yesterday... Im not sure what the deal is, but it doesnt look like it is going to work. Ive taken pics of it and sent it to Bob's. The throttle bar end weight doesnt look anything like what they sent, so Im not sure they even sent me the right thing.
Ive had a throttlemeister on my old R1100RS, and it was great. I thought that I would go this way and save a couple of bucks, BUT... |

I've used both and on the positive side, they both do the job they were designed for. I think the throttle meister is better looking and has a heavier matching bar end weight.
Here are a few observations on the con side: Wristrest...sometimes takes two hands to make work because it locks in the opposite direction of the throttle. It and the accompanying bar-end weight are lighter than the meister, so I think you loose a bit of vibration damping. Throttlemeister: If you're riding the twisties (or town) really hard with lots of throttle ons and throttle offs, it will slowly tighted up (especially with thick gloves) and sometimes surprise you if you're counting on the throttle springs to back the throttle off when you let off the gas. I never felt in danger when this happened, but one day on LoLo Pass (after a long hot day of sweet roads), it really got on my nerves.

I have used both and both worked well for me. The Throttlemeister looks better to my eye, but Bob's Wrist Rest is machined very nicely. Main functional difference is that the TM tightens and loosens the throttle the way I like....Bob's is counter-intuitive. Hope I can explain...TM tightens by rolling lock to you, and loosens by rolling it away...the same motion you use when operating the throttle. Bob's WR does it the other way....tightening you roll it forward but loosening you roll it back. So which ever makes sense to you is the way I'd go.

a bent hunk of coat hanger and rubber bands work. mucho cheaper.
i have the throttlemeister, and unless it's a straight, flat road, it doesn't make much sense to use it. matter of fact, it can actually wear out your wrist prematurely because of the added drag. then again, you can really perfect your "trailing throttle" technique with it.....

My main use is for a few minutes of wrist relief between gas stops. The 1100 miles from my home to my Dad's wreaks havoc on my wrist at around 800 miles. Most of the time I'll run with the bar end weights. I tried the Throttle Rocker, and didn't care for it.
Has anyone adapted the electronic cruise control from the RT?

Hoots, when I went to my local Throttlemeister factory to have them install it, they said even the cruise-equipped bikes were getting TM's installed. Something about the activation and deactivation and riding through corners were making people uneasy with the factory cruise.
Bradz is right. It's fun deactivating it after forgetting about it being on, and then feeling the good throttle response again. With the TM, I get better mileage on the slab because the throttle-bodies are changing less, causing the O2 sensor to require less fluctuation, making for more efficient fuel delievery. So by using it, it slowly is paying itself off. |

I use a large diameter O-ring.
Step 1, place O-ring over bar end. ![]() Step 2, rotate O-ring into gap between grip and bar end. ![]() Step 3, rotate throttle and watch it stay in place. ![]() ![]() To undo, you can either rotate the throttle back manually (overpowering the friction of the O-ring), or roll the O-ring back over the bar end. Cheap solution and works great. |

I don't know which kind I will get for my new R1200R but the Throttle Rocker I tried on another bike was a real waste of money as far as I'm concerned. Didn't work well at all.

What are the technical specifications of this hitech o-ring? And where can I find one in dakar yellow like yours?

CowboyKyle,
You should have more than 7744 miles on the bike by now. I think I have decided to go with the TM. How is the new Black and Silver Milled finish? I can't decide on those, the black finish, or the silver.

![]() I am really pleased with the milled finish. I would have gone flat black otherwise. I like the black finish with the red, so I decided to stick with it. And the milling was a nice touch. With a silver bike or BCR, I might have choose differently. Good luck. |
