power wheelie?

after watching the KTM Super Duke video, it made me realize how difficult it is to get the front up on the R11. I am wondering how the HP manages to hoist the front wheel. I seems the only to do a wheelie on the R11 is by incredible technique rather than brute power (should I get a nitrous bottle?). Any thoughts on this? for you R12 riders out there, how easy is it to wheelie compared to the R11?

I wouldn't say the technique is incredible, but there is a strange amount of inconisistent power delivery I've noticed on mine. You can roll around up to about 5500rpm, and if the conditions are right, whack it WFO to get the front up. It takes some sitting at the rear of the seat, but it will come up. Doesn't always do it, but some days it seems like it might just loop over.

I'm a squid. I still haven't seen any nice photos of big-wheelied R11S's. Just a nice standup on a taxi K1200RS. BMW riders need more stunna cred.

The R1200S power wheelies very easily.

My R1100S BCR power wheelies more easily now with the lighter PVM hoops on.

Here are someone elses power wheelies on the R11S

after i fitted the pcIII, the 1100s would power wheelie up into third gear. not high mingers like previously pictured- I'm no stunna, but the front was light nonetheless.

Herr Muller, nice clutching then.
I tried clutching a wheelie once and almost looped her, but saved her
and came down so hard on me privates that I was a soprano for
an hour or two.

seems the chipped bikes wheelie fairly easily. My stocker won't power up and I refuse to drop the clutch.

Hi Effervescent,

That black R11S.....I've got one of them as well. (126,000miles)

Don't remeber it being that shiny.

Has he just left the dealership?

Ahh, it's photo shopped!

Bikes are never that shiny in my experiance.

Power Commander Version 3, if I'm not mistaken (always possible).

Last time I checked this stuff alters the signals to the ingectors (maybe other bits too).

More flecible than changing the chip, it lets you play too.

power wheelies are all about torque, if the PC3 is kicking up that torque curve, then that's where i will spend my next performance improvement dollars. i have read here about removing the O2 sensor and an electronics module which boosts midrange performance. Any thoughts?

When I got my R1100S I was coming off the 76 R90/6. I couldnt keep the front wheel down for the first week or so. On my way home from the dealer it was delivered too I got on it and almost looped it. Now I have a hard time getting the front up, I think I have just gotten too used to the clutch/feel of it...

JeffW and BradZ can both do quite well with it...

After breaking the Transmission Output Shaft Bearing (3 times) on my '94 R100GS/PD due to wheelies, I'm just not motivated to do wheelies on my R1100S.

I don't believe the stock driveline components are up for this kind of abuse...besides, I don't think the front tire wear savings is all that significant, eh?
