				escort x50 died

dang thing is just 3 months of warranty (acting up everyonce and a while with self cal), now it says service required... anyone have experience with escort for service, what should i expect to pay, and the real pain is getting it across the border and back

Which power cord are you using? Do you use a H.A.R.D helmet display? I found that the phone jack type power connection needs to be "renewed" once in a while with a new plug, not being meant for the abuse I've given it.

I had a Escort die. Called to have it repaired & it was basically better to just buy a new one. If I remember right, they actually offered a tiny trade-in allowance & encouraged me not to repair it, but to buy a new one. Kinda' seemed like B.S. At least compared to Garmin, who has gone above & beyond on a few issues I've had with their GPS's. I view Escort like Generous Motors (here comes the flames). Built the company with good products & service. Started deciding that they could do better with more marketing, less R&D investment & little or no customer service.

				no joy

they have changed their name, and they answer the phone differently than Cincinatti microwave, but when i talked to them this morning, i guess having a detector require servicing is not an unusual event, i been running mine hardwired of the ignition, and i v'e had some concerns that maybe i should change it to a seperate switch, cause one always ends up with short delay between the time you turn to ignition and the point where you spin the engine over. which could cause voltage spikes... anyway the told me to do a hard reset, see if that changes anything

They cost $65.00 to repair, regardless of problem. Takes about 2 weeks. They are still in Ohio.

The last time I had anything to do with escort services was in a vice sting operation ... but that's another story ... I apologise for lowering the tone but I just couldn't control myself. Nick | ||
