ztechnik info

To JonyRR & All -- am curious to hear any member's experience with ZTechnik. I got a full system at a great price to go along with my SJBMW full power filter/snorker and Techlusion. Would have preferred a Stayintune or Remus, but money was the factor, and am not expecting any dramatic change in performance. Would just like to hear from someone using the system. P.S. Toyota Performance strongly endorses the Brisk plugs, while using NGKs for obvious marketing and manufacturing reasons. And NGKs are, of course, one of the world's best plugs.

I have it and I love it. My BC came with a lazer and I changed it out to a z-tec. It has a good deep sound level and bmw must like them because it doesnot effect your warrranty.

Regards,
Lane

I was told they were the only ones that did not effect it, but I did not buy it for that reason. So I guess a moot point.

Depends on the dealer and the regional service manager

I have the Z-T System on my R1100S...I like it just fine but here's a few nits:

1) Access to the Damper Screw on the Stock Rear Shock is somewhat difficult. I assume aftermarket shocks are a different matter.

2) You have to fabricate some kind of Stop Block for the Center Stand when it's in the retracted position. Here's my solution:

I've got the Z as well, no problems, decent sound. They also make a good radar detector mount.

I've had experience w/ both the laser & z-technik. The Z delivers a smoother, richer & nicer more livable sound. The laser on my BCR has a crackle to it, that gets on my nerves after awhile, even w/ the DB killers installed.

Great Info...

Picking up a 2002 R1100S BCP w/ Z-technik exhaust tomorrow. This is the first feedback I've seen from owners with this system. Glad I stopped by this site.

Cool!

Thanks to all/welcome Kevin

Thanks to everyone taking the time to post and give me info on the ZTechnik. Welcome to Kevin. This is a great site, make it a routine to hang out here. You'll learn a lot, including which direction to point washing machines and which snake oil is best to use in the Bermuda Triangle.

I loved my Z-Technik and I'd buy another one for the new S given the chance!

Anyone have any install tips? Just got the system minus instructions, it looks brand new. Seems to be a straightforward change-out, remove header, remove O2 sensor, loosen cat and cans, push backwards and down. Want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Phoenixtexoma, Hey let me know if you did not receive 6 pages. My fax was very slow to transfer, to the point I`m not certain it went through.

Regards,
Lane

To R1100S Nut & R111S: Got the PDF. The fax number was for work, will check it in the morning & let you know. Our fax has been slow & dropping faxes also. Sincere thanks to you both. One question: the instructions show to twist the O2 sensor wires as you unscrew it from the cat, then make sure they're twisted correctly again when you install the sensor into the ZTechnik. The BMW shop manual requires pulling the tank back and disconnecting the wires at the plug under the tank. Is twisting OK?

I'd say the tank removal method is best especially if the wires near the sensor look a bit toasted. You may also see if the connector terminals need cleaning.

I did the Twisting method...just be sure to distribute the twist over as much cable as possible. Second, count the number of twists during removal, then when you put it back in to the Z-T, pre-twist the cable the same number of times before threading in. That way it is completely relaxed post re-install.
