F650GS Across Canada-in January?

If you havn't been following the adventures of one Paul Mondor, check out his cross Canada ride that started on January 1st from Victoria, British Columbia. He leaves Moncton, New Brunswick in the morning (it's -19 celcius) for Nova Scotia and then on to Newfoundland.

I think its cool to challenge yourself like this, I love it. I will say this, being cold on a bike is the worst cold I have experienced and I ski and snowboard. Some people will call him crazy but I think its cool. I hope Dee Jones dosen`t see this he will prolly want to do this.

Simply Suicidal this time of year.

If the cold don't get you, the cagers will. They are not expecting or looking to see a rider this time of year.

Good luck, and keep your head up.

P.S.
I know cold, I have been above the Arctic Circle several times.

You are right, the cars would be scary.

X-Triple, when were you at the artic circle. I have been there a couple of times, once in jan. I think it was like 50 or 60 below zero. I was in the military at the time. We did not shut down just kept the engines running during off load and paper work. Strange looking place up there.
Regards,
Lane

Hey Lane,

It was about 6 - 8 years ago. Doing some "ops" . Spent a lot a time with the "S" and "T" boats out of Faslane.

I was there in February around Norway. It was so cold when I would spit, it would be frozen by the time it hit the deck.

Nova Scotia is a great place to ride, with the exception of winter.

X-Triple

Cool. I remember walking on the flight line and my flight boots sounded like that had taps on them the soles were so hard from the cold. I can`t remember which base we operated out of, think is was in or near Nome and also Kosibue? We were working with special ops guys and my experence with s/o is they don`t say much and I don`t ask much. Have you done any rotations out of Howard in Panama?

Have a good weekend.
