Thanks guys I needed that today. Two of my favorite photo subjects - flowers and sunsets.

KMoore-

How close are the colors in your sunset photo to what you really saw that day?

Hi,
The colours are just a little enhanced, camera set on vivid, but pretty much as it was at that time. I had just driven through a huge storm with torrential rain and this was taken amongst others over about 15 minutes with changing colours. It was the most interesting and unusual sunset I have seen for a long time. The sun was setting behind me and there was almost no clouds looking that way.

Nice job. It doesn't have that typical phony HDR look to it at all.

A shot that reminds me that I still miss those wide open Nevada skies... In high school years one summer we took a "cross country" trip in a buddies pickup truck, threw the sleeping bags, some grub, and a 50 gallon drum of gasoline, in the back and hauled a$$! I say cross country cuz the ONLY time we saw pavement was crossing highways in the middle of the state. Went from Fallon to St. George, Utah, which took a couple of days of wandering those back trails. First night out camping in the Reese River area it was so still and so quiet felt like we were on some alien planet.

Love those wide open skies! Thanks for posting that great photo!

Cheers, Bill J

Thanks Bill, tis not such a bad place to be this time of year....sounds like you had one heck of a trip.

Steve, as with most any photo processing program, one can go hog wild with too many adjustments. As I don't really care for the overtly surreal HDRs either, I try to pull out just enough detail in the shadows to make the scene interesting. A lot of people try to make the luminance in the shadow areas as bright as in the highlights which of course doesnt look at all natural.

Glad you liked it...
