So I'd almost venture a guess that now the MM has a lower CoG because the pipes and fairings of the R1200S are all high, and the shaft is shorter/lighter. Obviously with the rider on board the MM will more than make up for that, but the difference between the two is not nearly as great as you'd think, yet the handling characteristics are really different.

i guess its all about feel, but when i look at your overlay which puts both wheels on the ground, i see that you are sitting probably 4" higher. that has to affect the COG, unless you ride with all your weight on the pegs, but you would need to be standing to do that. Maybe I will get to ride one at some point, and then I will know, hopefully it will have well sorted suspension like yours.

The difference is night and day, before Racetech worked their magic I was so much more impressed with the R1200S handling and road manners that I was about to sell the MM. It really isn't that great out of the box, but with all the tweaks it becomes really wonderful. Also if you look at where your bum really sits there is very little difference in seat height, the Renzaco seat on the MM squishes down a good 3 inches or so, while the Corbin seat on the R1200S doesn't.

It's weird how the MM looks so tall when it is on its own.........but up against the 12S..........it does not look so big.

Cheers

My First 1000 Miles

Hey everybody, I am back from my first long distance trip. It was from La Paz to the city of Cochabamba in Bolivia. Very nice road with endless straights and then some awsome curvey roads. We averaged 75mph with a max of 93mph on a long empty straight. We had two back up cars that followed us with food n drinks.

Our destination was a Classic Car Meet where we sent our cars to a gathering. So, we had two activities in one. I am glad to have made some serious mileage on my bike. I feel much more confident specially on fast curves. I practiced about 200 times, Slow in one gear down, Out to In, turn head, lean bike, pull out.

Cant' wait till the next holiday.

Enrique

That does look like a fun event! Interesting assortment of cars...

Bet you like your Capri...I had 3 of them in the 70's, my '73 with a V-6 was mui quick.

Cheers! Bill J

At the time I had my V-6 Capri I was working part time for an architect who owned a BMW coupe. He was a bit chagrined that the Capri was quicker than his Bimmer. Had fun with that car, hope you enjoy yours...!
