New BMW: the 450

Apparantly BMW is making an agressive move on the OTR market. Maybe they want to beat KTM?
These pictures show the BMW 450

Motorrad testdrove the 650-series and found them to be excellent.
Funny thing is the engine is more or less the same as of the 650 (lost 2 kg's) but the bikes lost a lot of weight! just imagine what would have happened if they designed a new single, like KTM did.

I'd be in the market for an f650x, if they weren't so down on power compared to KTM & Husvarna...

there is a rumor out there that BMW will be campaigning "something new" in the Erzberg Rodeo, Perhaps this will be it, appears to be fuel injected.

down on power at 54hp? LC4's only put out mid 50's, are carbed and only have a 20lb+ weight advantage and center of gravity is perceived as superior on the G650X's by those who have spent some time on one. We just got our G650X Challenge in today and I plan on riding it Sunday through the gravel and backroads.

husky's make about 10 more. only 20#'s? that's quite a bit when you're talking 54 bhp... I'll have to eventually make the trek up to Hermy's to check them out, as soon as they have them & the F800S in stock. I can see where COG might be a plus, with the gas under the seat. good insight, there Bobby. I'm certainly curious to check them out. the donkey's getting long in the tooth & I'd like to replace her with something more versatile...

they should have them on the floor by the end of this week. We got our F800's yesterday and the G650X Challenge showed up today. Just about every dealer should have a G650X Challenge due in. However the G650X SM and CrossCountry will be spotty in delivery at first, there are less units of these then dealers due in over the next 3 months from what I understand.

No commitment from BMW on that, however they are supposed to unveil a new model or two at Intermot

That tank is too small and there's no bag mounts that I see. What are they thinking? Maybe in a few years you can drill out the numberplate and put bag mounts there?

Thats exactly what I've been looking for. I've been looking at the Husky's and KTM for awhile now, trying to decide on which will be the better dual-sport. Add this to the mix and it just makes the decision harder.

just got the pricing for the G650's:
G650X Country. (Scrambler) - $8,200
G650X Challenge (Dual Sport) - $8500
G650X Moto (Supermoto) - $9100!!!

I thought the Husky's were frickin' expensive!!! looks like when the Donkey goes, no more BMW's for me, I don't care how weell they fit.

Leave it to those brilliant German engineers to go off in search of problems that no one needed to solve...
