Charging a 2004 r1100s

I did a search and found a "short cut" for charging the battery. Went to follow the instructions, and as I was taking off the starter cover, there was a big + sign with a plastic cover....... Using logic, am I correct that I can put a battery charger right on the metal stud coming out of the starter cover?

Yes you are correct. Put the neg on a frame/engine bolt.

If you have the positive post kit sticking out from the starter cover, like I do, you can just clip on any battery tender. Simple easy no plugs hanging off the battery.

Yes, you are right. I have the same year R1100S and there is that plastic cover. Remover and there is your positive. And if you look at the backside of the cylinder head there is a lug (battery terminal post) to put the clip/cable to for your negative. Or any bolt to the frame works.

My bike has an accessory plug by Powerlet, so for charging I use a Battery Tender with the Euro plug. You can do it just fine your way.

Have an old Corvette Stingray with battery behind the seat. For power underneath hood on timing light, pull off alternator and ground to header bolt. Have charged this way too.
