cool ivan. we got in there twice! you have my address to send the royalty checks, right?
tuna wasn't saving the front tire. it's just that as he got into the desert, the air inside the tire expanded, making it lighter. he was just doing his darn best to continue being an exceptionally safe rider, pushing the wheel gently back towards the ground everytime it floated skyward. happens all the time.

...you should have your own magazine, Brad... something along the lines of:
"scientific explanations for two wheel occurences that appear to be infractions of the Law" ...Maybe the officer would have GIVEN Jeff some money if YOU would have had a chance to explain the "double yellow, speeding with earphones while not carrying the proper paerwork"!? That is a GREAT explanation of what dangerous things can happen in hot air and how a skilled rider can avoid being blindsided by it... ![]()

don't know if i could have helped jeff at all, since both he and i always get tickets for the same thing:
3322.7A: "Acting like a 25-year old." 39943.3: "Retaining enthuaism for riding motorcycles." 49283.4: "Riding with exuberance not associated with 50+ year olds" 6423.3F: "Riding while smiling, giggling, enjoying life." 532.33: "Utilizing 2-wheel vehicle as it was designed to be employed." and the worse one: 88323.5 "Having fun on motorcycle, as it was intended."

It appears, after repeatedly examining the film of Matt's moisture induced tank slapper (and showing it to a dozen of my closest friends), that his recovery was fully realized with no further negative consequences save the probable soiling of his riding gear.
However, my guess is, his inexplicable use of the front brake as the bike drifted to the right onto the non-existent shoulder (actually just gravel, grass and variouis detritus) made a success story go to hell in a hand basket. IOWs, he saved it, but lost it when he punched the front brake with sketchy surface conditions while still rolling about 5 mph. That's the only explanation I can come up with. He totally saved it and the bike was fully under control, then WHAMMM!! In my humble 35 or so years of riding, the only explanation I can come up with for such a rapid slam down is for the front end to have lost grip completely. Which makes sense looking at the edge of the road....and remembering my own experience with that situation. BTW, I also lost it. Bummer.

nah, he did it on totally, absolutely, completely on purpose, so as to be "Thing #1".
Matt loves being in the spotlight, and is willing to belly up and say "Hell, if nobody else is willing to fall...and in order to fulfill the destiny of Thing #1...dangit...i'll volunteer!". After all, he's a soldier ya know...and they teach 'em all kinda stuff like that at soldier school. so............are we ever gonna see this video? you've ridden with this group, so you obviously don't expect us to take your word for what happened...we require bonafide, certified, notarized (Cyndy is a notary, by the way) living-color (with sound) proof. otherwise, it could fall into the category of: "whadda you guys talking about? i MEANT to do that!". (we've heard it before). we practice not rolling our eyes during our off-weekends.

Sorry guys. I'll hustle up and get this done as fast as my nubie skills allow.
Some of you might not have heard me complaining that my rig was not working. Well, it turned out to be working really well and I got literally hours of tape. So I'll start distilling it down tonight. I agree Brad, he did it on purpose to be cool !!!! hahahha Matt, all kidding aside, you really did a great job of keeping that from being a LOT worse. Nice recovery. I'll get that piece pulled out first and send it direct to you asap. If you want, you can send an email to me at kwajazz@swbell.net and I'll return it to you when finished. kerry
