Front fork brake line guide

I just installed a dual line SS setup and was wondering what others had done / used / made for a brake line guide on the right fork tube.

The stock left line guide worked great for the left side, but the distribution / splitter fitting bolts on the right side and no line guide is present.

Thanks, and fire away

Good to know. I will be looking for the answer as well since I will probably be doing this over the weekend.

you *might* have to use your........imagination.
Imagine that.
picture a clear route.
conceptualize and visualize the route your brake hose will take under various operating conditions.
design your lashup accordingly.
not everything is in the manual....and aftermarket, vereboten-by-the-vaterlandt mods are at the top of that list.
use a piece of shrink tubing surrounded by a small aluminum tube for a guide and secure it with a SS thrubolt hoseclamp or similar.

I just revised my setup when I mounted new triple clamps. What finally worked very well for me was purchasing another left side brake line holder and rubber grommet. I was able to carefully bend the mount straight and add a reverse 90deg bend in the clamp just slightly below the original bend. It now mounts up and looks just like the other side brake line holder. You can fab a little post to the alignment hole to keep it straight. Looks like a factory part since it basically is.

Thanks Scott,

I was thinking of doing just that same thing. I just can't Mickey Mouse things like that, its not in my nature as a a bimmer owner..............

What tools did you use to bend the line holder?

I assume a vice, etc....

Yeah, those are the high tech tools I used :) I tried to bend it flat in the vise but it worked better to just pound it with a hammer on the anvil part of the vise. I was expecting it to break but it flattened out without over stressing it. I used the vise to hold it just about 1/16" below the previous bend and used the hammer to bend another 90deg in the opposite direction. It turned out nice. If I can find my camera I'll post a pic.

Very cave man Scott,

I like it..........maybe you could use the re-enactment of the process in a Geico commercial........................
:)

Pic would be great.

Here ya go Matty...don't knock the caveman,
he invented the wheel after all :D

BTW, before I bent it in the opposite direction I tried mounting it in a couple different positions. When it was mounted flipped over with the holder facing up, it hit the telelever arm in full lock position. With it stock and facing downward the brake line hit the telelever arm with the bars fully to the right. It was clearly not going to work too well on the right side as it was so that's when I decided to get the hammer out. If it hadn't worked I would have tried something else. To my surprise it did work.
