Anyone buy this BMW Luggage?

Looks like a good deal.
Was wondering if anyone has purchased from them.

Looks like retail prices to me. BMW Chicago gives a 20% discount if you order on line and don't mind waiting.

If your going to order from Chicago BMW, be prepared to wait a long time for your bags to arrive.

I was told they place a BMW USA order once a week, receive it within a week then ship it out. Depending on where you live, maybe a week to get to you. So if BMW USA has it in stock, you should get them in about 3 weeks.
You need to followup with them about a week after you order it to see if BMW had it in stock. If BMW USA has it on backorder, that's when you run into trouble.

I just ordered and fitted the bags from Hammersley (bought through eBay) and they got to me in two days. Brand new and fit perfectly. They're $800 now on the 'bay but I thought that was a fair price to get them quick, etc. They were a pleasure to deal with too.

Good question.

I once waited nine weeks for an order of K75 parts to ship. Most orders have taken about three to four weeks.

Regardless of what they say on the phone of when stuff will ship, it's really a crap shoot.

Other than the wait, I'd give them a thumbs-up. The discount can really add-up on big orders, and I've been able to return parts that I've ordered from them in error without paying a restocking fee. Nice.

$800 is insane for 2 plastic boxes, with a couple of plastic mounting rails. If I do some touring im gonna get one of these.

I'd take dry and safe gear over a couple of extra HP any day!

Looks like too much weight too far back, might as well get a GIVI top case.

Too far back? It's on the back seat, which is actually FORWARD of where the center of the factory cases are.

Now, "too high up", I might be inclined to see your point. But it's certainly no farther back than a passenger or the factory cases would be, and much farther forward than a GIVI topcase. It also hangs down on either side, which gives it a CoG much lower than a GIVI.

And, I'm happy to see that someone else knows about TwistedThrottle. They've got some pretty nice stuff for fairly reasonable prices.

As far as Chicago BMW, they keep almost NOTHING in stock and rarely, if ever, look up part numbers for you, so they therefore have very little parts overhead. I'm sure that, if they could, they would probably drop-ship from BMW to your house, but BMWNA would probably yank their license in a heartbeat. They also rush-order about 90% of their parts when they place their order with BMW, which adds 6% to their cost. At a 20% discount, they're still a few bucks ahead on most stuff.

If it's an item that you need, or for an older bike, you're better off getting it from someone that you know has it in stock, or you could be waiting a long time. IMHO, of course...
